Ferrets often chew on one side of their mouth. They close that eye when they are eating, The muscles they use to chew often close their eye. Its really cute lol.

Poor Giuli! I am sorry. I will have to send money for your post-it fund. My guys will not only run you out of house and home, but postits as well! At least it is job security for those post-it people! You need to up date your "files" again. This morning I spied Harley eating the soupie out of the bowl all by himself. Then, so did Sassy and 'Topher! Now I just need to get Angel and Riven to be more daring! Now that they are venturing to the bowl, do I still need to go and spoon feed? Or will they start to eat what they need on their own? (still worried about starving fuzzies!) I am probably going to stick with the soupie for a few days before adding something else new (like chicken chunks) Oh, spoke too soon. You need to go update Riven's sticky too! He is currently diving into the bowl, snout first! Yay!!!

Hooray! LOL good thing post-it notes are cheap!!! No more need to spoon feed if they are eating out of the bowl on their own. Give them 2-3 days of just eating this plain soupie, and then you can slowly start to add chunks. Congratulations! I know its slow-going, but this is still progress! You are on your way to having 7 meat eating little fuzzbutts! Congratulations! And keep updating me on their progress! Im thrilled (I bet you are too )

So, no need to spoon feed even if it is slow, small amounts they eat at at time? If so...good deal! I still need to get Angel to eat from the bowl. She is still spoon dependant. As far as progress...this is actually going better than I thought it would. I felt for certain I would have to go back to the kibble. But, they seem the be enjoying the new food (bowl was completely empty this morning when I let them out of the cage) Angel just isn't so sure yet. She is my teeny tiny little one, I actually wonder if she isn't underweight. I am not a good judge, though. I did weigh her this morning, and she weighed a whole .6 of an oz heavier than last week. (my husband said it was because she hadn't had her morning poo yet) Even so, I was thrilled to see that she hadn't been losing anything. She is my biggest concern. Post its are cheap. The gas to drive there and pick them up actually costs more than the post its themselves. Maybe I need to send gas money?? Or, you could start the "Giuli Fund" and have people send in donations. It would go to a good cause, that's for sure!

Nope, no need to spoon feed (except for angel). I am glad to hear that they are liking their food finally! I knew they would Just keep them at this stage for the next couple days. Dont rush into the next step and spook them. Good luck!

I thought you would like to know that I actually came across Angel with her head in the food bowl this afternoon. I don't think she ate a whole lot, but she did indeed eat. My trick with them is...I leave the spoon in the bowl. That a way they think I am spoon feeding them, even if I am across the room. Maybe tomorrow I will do without the spoon training wheels, and go straight for bowl only. So, in summary of todays events, all 7 are eating soupie at their own personal pace. Yea!! Also, just so you know. We have a serious case of the "soupie poopie" goin on here. Watery poo galore! Yuck!

Yeah watery poop sucks. Its due to a.) the low fiber content of the soup and b.) that they are eating a new food and their stomachs are adjusting.
Their poop will get SLIGHTLY firmer when they start eating solid raw, but you will really since a marked improvement when you get them eating bone (because of the fiber in bone).

Just checking in. Everything has been going fine today with the soupie. I have even started to make the soupie less soupy and more thick to start a slow, slow transition to solid meat. I will definately be staying at this stage for a few more days. I figure this is at least some what better than just straight kibble. Of course, I haven't been home for a good part of the afternoon due to father's day plans, so I need to make sure Angel is eating. Other wise, every one else seems to be doing ok.

That is excellent news! I am happy to hear that everyone is doing okay How are the poops looking? If they are still kinda watery (which I might expect them to be) you might want to mix up their next batch of soupie with some pedialyte (to help replace electrolytes) and add the pedialyte to their water bottle as well. They are getting alot of water from the soup, but electrolytes are important too, so to be safe and sound, try getting some UNFLAVORED pedialyte and mixing it in with the next batch of soup. I am happy to hear that the transition is going well! I think its smart to stay on the "soup stage" and I like that you are gradually increaseing the thickness of the soup

Well, one thing is for sure. Sassy, 'Topher, and Harley followed me into the kitchen this morning after I let them out of their cage. They were pawing at doors trying to find...you guessed it....the soupie. They spent a good 10 or 15 min in the kitchen with their faces in the bowl. I think they may like it a bit!! Sassy would even grab a piece, and take off across the room to a safe place to eat her goodies! I was so excited for them, but at the same time a little upset that my other 4 did not come a running. I need to go try to feed the other 4. My husband says they ate (he thinks) during the day. His lack of certainty is a little dismaying. I also learned he has been feeling bad for them, and sneaking them treats (kibble) now and then. What am I going to do with my ferrets....and what on earth can I do about my husband! I think he is a lost cause!

My husband did the same until i made him see how much harder that was making it. Dont worry they all will come running. I had 3 hold outs when i first started feeding raw and i thought to myself that they would never get off of kibble. Now they are the first ones waiting for their food after their play times. I know its hard and sometimes feels like you are not getting anywhere but you will. Like I said before you are doing a great job. Sending some hugs out to you from one ferret mommy to another
