Hubby has taken the week off for our three special days this week.. my birthday on monday, our Anniversary on tuesday and His birthday on Friday...
so .. we decided to take the gang out ferreting a new bit of land today...
Everyone had a GREAT time ... all four that we took with us bolted rabbits and we brought along some friends that had never ferreted before and they are now hooked lol
The original Feeding den bit comes from Sage .. our 1 yr old polecat hob ... at the end of the day ...
after netting up the holes in a nice ground set in a wood.. i entered Sage into a nice big hole.. it looked pretty well used so we were hopeful there was a rabbit at home!
after about a min we hear a THUMP THUMP THUMP that we rabbit hunters recognize as a rabbit alert sound.... AHAH!! someones home!!
Next thing i know i see a rabbit face peek out of a hole but it doesn't pop out into the net as normal! right on its tail.. VERY literally lol is Sage who pulled the rabbit back and there was a SQUEEK!! and silence....
Not neccessarily a good sign for my hubby who suddenly looked at the shovel in disgust LOL...
after laying on our bellies and reaching as far into the hole as possible only to have Sage drag the rabbit back down into his personal lil feeding den lol... it took only a couple min to find the back end of the rabbit... with Sage presumably attached to the front end...
with a GREAT BIG HEAVE.. you wouldn't believe how hard He had to pull to get the rabbit out!! out comes the rabbit with Sage still attatched!! He wasn't letting go of HIS rabbit for nothing!!
we had to carry him back down the hill and cut the head off the rabbit so he could take it back to his cage with him to share with the others lol..
He had the BEST day... and now all four are completely tuckered out and sleeping off a huge feed of rabbit livers, kidneys and hearts that were their reward for todays catch..
