---Update with photos of cage linked together is a few posts down--
Since we just got the second FN142, we haven't linked them yet cause we still need to do introductions.. (See my post in the "Show your ferrets" section..)
I JUST learned how to sew. As in, a week ago. I made a large cube, a round bed, a single hammy/tube, and a double decker hammy. I feel like I'm doing well there! All fuzzies approve of the new additions. We made the tray covers and shelf covers with help from a friend of mine that does sew, but some of the extra ones are just blankets wrapped around the trays.
(Um. I'm addicted to fleece fabric. Anywhere I see it, I tend to buy. Goodwill? I'm there. Joanns? I'm there. Garage Sales? I'm there. Walgreens has good sales on baby blankets right now....... meep. My bf says I'm crazy.)
When we attach the cages, we will do back-to-back as I believe it was chatrat that suggested it to me? Could have been Jaycee. I'm sorry, I don't remember. It was on the ferret.com forums. We will only remove the upper portion of the back. The lower portion one side will be litterboxes one side will be food. The top will be run around and sleep when tired area. That way, if needed, I could raise the ladders and still have three seperate 'compartments'.
Here is the cage setup. At the foot of my bed. (No, we've had NO issues with poo outside the cage or over the edge of the litterbox. If they miss the litterbox, they go somewhere else entirely but never out of the corner of the cage.)
The two newbies are in one, and my original 4 are in the other.

This is as you come into my bedroom. My bed is on the right. This is the original 142.
Here is from my closet. (my door is to the right, and my bed is behind the cages.) New cage is on left, old cage on right.
And finally, here's the cage from Z's side of the bed. (Right next to the backdoor of the house.) The door is on the left side, and my bathroom door is in the middle sort of.
I'd like to point out an idea my friend had. I don't know how you all dispose of litter quickly.. But in the last photo, on the left, you can kind of see my two large black plastic trash-containers. One holds dirty wood pellets, and one holds clean ones. Makes cleaning the boxes SO much easier.. We use to just hold the bag and one of us dumped. This was really stinky, and messy if we missed..
Here's a pic of the new bedding
Pls excuse the dirty litterpan.
