Since I cannot find a butcher who will grind up chicken and bone for me, I may try to do it myself. Grinders are very expensive though, so I dont want to spend a lot of money for something that wont work. Has anyone ever tried the hand grinders for meat and bone? Is there a risk of not getting the bone ground up enough and having it cut up their stomachs or cause an obstruction?

It think it depends on the hand grinder I bought one from walmarts it would grind the meat ok but bones would jam in the wheels and make very hard to turn and unjam and would come out crushed more then grinded, I happen to be working on a heating system at a very nice old couples house they had some old hand grinders on shelves in there basement I asked them what they used them for , they said they dont use them anymore but used to make sausages with them I asked if i could buy one they gave it to me and it was very heavy but it grinds meat and bones very well ,I thinks it is a old butchers grinder , before you buy anything look on trade sights and ebay , from what I understand most grinders are made for meats but not bones.
