My guys have started shedding, and none of them shed at the same time I heard someone say it depends when their birthdays are...I really don't know I just know that they are starting to put their beautiful thick winter coats on now. Loki is loosing his coat first, as he's had adrenal surgery before I got him I always keep a close eye on him. Max has already lost is coat, and has his little lion cut on including the furry tip on his presently naked tail (he actually sheds this way, his adrenal test has come back negative) As his winter coat comes in thicker so will his tail until he has a beautiful dark brown tail back...actually his coat has been getting gray the last few times that it has come in, Loki is almost all gray now. These are a couple of my older furchildren, Max is 8 or 9 and Loki is around 7 or 8. Judging by the amount of fur that is around it looks like everyone is shedding to some degree but these are my two heavy shedders at the moment. It's the right time of year. ciao

lol i panicked. Baxter is the one who has had all the health problems. Oliver is shedding now also. what kind of brush can i get to successfully take the xtra hairs off of them. i dont want obstructions.
i found several hairballs in their poop yesterday when i cleaned the litterbox. ive been feeding pumpkin and ferretlax on alternating days.
i really want to brush them. i tried with a soft brush and was not very successful.

I know this sounds tacky, but I gently "pluck" my ferrets like chickens - it works better than brushing. ANd yes, fur can come out in handfuls. -jennifer

I so love Rubber curry brushes for cats. I just brush over and over again in the same spot and the undercoat will come out along with any loose gaurd hairs. You can see its affects here. Rolo looks so silly right now. She has hair on her head and legs and her hind quarters. I can't seem to brush her well enough to get anymore off. www.zootoo.com/cats_grooming/rubbercurrycatbrushCheck out this thread i made about her (she is my only one shedding and for some reason Loki isn't shedding this season. Her fur just grew longer lol. She is my beautiful fluff master 5,000. holisticferret.proboards80.com/index.cgi?board=talking&action=display&thread=1351

I bought this and used it on adam yesterday since hes shedding. It got alot of undercoat out and he struggled at first then just layed on my arm hugging it and letting me run the balde across his body. he seemed to really enjoy it. I did this with him over the tub and afterward just used a paper towel to wipe all the fur out into the trash. You'll have to brush them outside or in the tub since once the hair comes off it goes flying or falling. www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754499

lol i also pluck. it usually scares whatever human is near me at the time. i also use a partially spent lint roller and roll them going with the hair. my girls really like it. i suppose its like a mini massage.
we have lots of little spa moments throughout the day. i still want to get a brush for the boys though. they are shedding like crazy.
