I know this question probably has been asked before, but what is the best filling for a dig box?? I just got a huge card board box from my job and need to fill it. I know you can use Rice or those Biodegradable packing peanuts, but what other options are there out there? I know they will try to eat that stuff

Well packing peanuts don't work in my house. (Mr. Bean eats them) shredded newpaper doesn't work because they wont dig in it they only sleep on top of it. So dirt or rice is my only option ut i haven't tried rice and i think Mr. Bean would eat it.

I presently have a rice box, a sand box and a shredded paper box for my guys to play in, they also have a drawer of plant marbles. I've also used dried navy beans but that one had to be cleaned out and I've not replaced it yet. They also have a couple of boxes of those bright coloured balls that children use in those bouncing cages. All are used at various times by different furkids. Sometimes they'll go days without anyone playing in them and then they'll use them again. I have to admit I wasn't impressed when the bean box was used to bread and stash a couple of rats that they were supposed to be eating, but thought they would taste better after they had aged a little. ciao
