Evacuation

So I'm sure everyone heard about hurricane Gustav last week. Well, the babies and I had to evacuate. It was not fun at all, in fact it was nothing less than a huge mess.

I decided that there was no way I was going through that again so I'm not going back. The babies were trapped in the back of my SUV for 17 hours, and then again for another 10. Now they are once again trapped in the cage, but at least they get to go outside and play for an hour a day. It sucks!!!

Now I need to find a new place to live on short notice and little money (I had to rent a truck to move my stuff out, and my roommate's last check bounced!) I think I might lose my mind soon. And don't even get me started on the babies diet; its all shot to hell. I'll need to reassess everything once I find a new place to live.

Right now I'm at my mother's place, and tonight we'll be driving 10 hours to Atlanta to find an apartment. I'll have to put them up somewhere as I'll be staying with mu uncle's family. That's more money that I don't have, and more of them being trapped in a cage. Did I mention how much this sucks?

At least I still have my job, though all hell broke lose there too and despite the hurricane everyone expects me to be available all the time like northing's happened.

Oh, and I can't even get drunk because I have to drive. I'm miserable, the babies are miserable, and I'm poor.

Anyway, I'll be back again when I can. I just wanted to let everyone know why I haven't been around for a bit.

Hey! I'm poor too! Tim and I are both jobless and our credit cards are maxed out! Wanna have a party together? We can get "virtually" drunk on the net (that way you can still drive.....insert creepy "im-about-to-have-a-nervous-break down" ferret smiley:

Nobut seriously, I'm going through a crappy time now too, so I can DEF feel your pain. Im so sorry you are in this situation. I hope this all works out. I always wondered how people in the south managed to live down by where all the hurricanes hit. I could NEVER do it. Hopefully things look up for your soon. Please keep us posted.

Oh and as for the kid's diet, dont worry, once you are settled you can get things back on track. It will be okay, I promise. Try not to stress, what matters right now is you finding an apartment.

Well, it took a while but the babies and I are finally settled in our new home. They love having their own room and love making a mess of the place. They have a new dig box (with real dirt); boy did that go over well. Bandit has stopped digging at the carpet, but now Piper has started. They love exploring the new apartment which is bigger than the old one so they have more room to run and romp around.

The bad news is that their diet is all messed up now. They spent two days traveling in the car with only one 10 hour break when we stopped at the motel. Then they were stuck in their cage for another week at my mother's house (they only got out for an hour each when I walked them). And after that, more driving and then a week boarding at a vets office.

All that time they were eating EVO and then Marshall's when that ran out. So now of course I have to start over with Piper, and even Dillon isn't interested in chicken (though he seems to remember that3 he likes pork). Bear and Bandit only eat the tips of the chicken wings and the pork of course. But they both remember that live mice = food! So at least I should have less work with them once I get their food ordered from rodentpro.

Anyway, that's our update for now. I hope everyone is doing well!

Yay! Im happy to hear you are settled! Im sorry for everything you went through, that sucks.
