If I were to leave the blinds open in the ferret room 24/7 would is be healthier for them than if I were to have them closed. Talking about this becuase of the research with adrenal and lighting.

I personaly think that if they had dark places to go and hide then it is healtheir to leave them open. This way it is natural lighting and they can still go and hide if they want. I know that durring the day I do catch mine looking out the window and when i look they are looking at nothing but the pear tree and the birds outside

I would provide sleep boxes that way they can sleep in the dark if they choose to. Most of my guys find various drawers, sleep boxes and tunnels to sleep in. I do have a couple that just love to sleep in the open tube that takes them to their outdoor play area. It's in the shade but definitely not dark, and there's always a cool breeze that blows around that corner of the house. It would be indeed a comfortable place to sleep...it's also one place I can't really get at the little bums ciao

If there are lights outside the window, like streetlights, you might want to close the blinds at night.

I have to agree; I leave all my windows open so that my apartment is as close to natural light cycles as possible, and I rarely use lights at night except for small lamps exactly where I need them. My kids like to sleep in the dark closet so they have a dark place to go to, but still are subjected to the natural lighting. I don't know how much it helps really, but I do think it contributes a lot.

They have 5 dark places they can sleep all the time. Their cube, Their cuddle cave, the den, the pocket hammock, and under the pet stairs.
Their is a street light outside the window. It comes on and goes off spontaneously. The only problem is I am nocturnal and go to bed around 6 AM and I can't open the blinds in the morning. I think it will be OK though since they can hide in their various in cage dark hidey spots. I will leave them open 24/7 then.
Thank you everyone
