Yes... That being said...in limited quantities and some won't touch it on its own because of the texture...Consider it an aquired taste Many feed it as a freeze dried treat, more readily accepted in this manner. It is part of the essential diet. Too much and you get really gross runny poopies (and in extreme cases toxic). It's a trial and error thing. I have some who will eat it on it's own, others will only eat chicken livers. As I serve a homemade ground mix as part of my feeding regime (I also serve whole meats and prey), I usually serve it in there, that way I know everyone is getting some and not too much. Just how I do it. ciao

Thanks for that, I didnt think they could have it in big quantities, but the reason I ask... About 2-3 years ago we re-rehomed two ferrets, Max and Paddie, well we got a phone call this morning saying Max had died, the owners had done nothing that could have killed them, they boarded them with a ferret owner who fed them major quantities of liver and it killed Maxie. My ferts get a rabbit liver here and there (depends what they take, the hawks usually get it first though lol) and they seem to do just fine, but a wild rabbits liver is tiny so it is basically just a treat.

Too much liver will cause vitamin A overdose. But liver SHOULD be a part of a natural diet since it provides vitamin A and C. Moderation is key. I don't advise more then 1 chicken/rabbit sized liver, per ferret, per week.
