Still NO bleeding and even the bruising looks better. Gums still healthy and pink and his poo is completely brown and still firmer. I feel like a terrible ferret mom, but I fell asleep about 1 in the morning after being up for 30 hours between him and my friend coming to my house upset about a boy so he had about 5 hours by himself till my mom's boyfriend got up. They did NOT wake me up so my mom watched him when she got home from work and I just woke up by myself very recently and Im incredibly mad at them. First thing I dove for was Rascal of course and he seemed ok so I asked my mom how he was before I um...made VERY sure she would wake me up if that ever happened again. She said she had him out walking around and eating and he seems to be getting better. I cant examine him yet because he's asleep and I dont want to prevent him getting rest though. I've been working with his back legs, laying him on his back and moving them for him to try to loosen them up and it seems to be helping with his gait. If he doesnt wake up soon I'm going to have to wake him up though because my mom is ridiculously optimistic and i dont trust her accessment. I think the phrases "he's fine" and "nothings wrong" make up half her vocabulary even when shes obviously very mistaken. I will discuss Keawea's plan of action if and when she ends up going adrenal with the vet. The hemophiliac-like disease someone told me about may be to blame. Hopefully, because it wouldnt affect Keawea most likely. I'll also have blood tests done on her to determine clotting factor, which I SHOULD have insisted on for Rascal along with the adrenal test if I suspect problems with her. I really hope she gets it now if she's going to so she wont be too old for surgery. I'm also going to be finding another ferret vet because I am a lot less impressed with the one that did Rascal than I was before. It was like pulling teeth to get an emergency vet number from him and even then it was the SAME CLINIC that killed my guinea pig with an antibiotic overdose a few years ago. I think Rascal would be better off with me taking care of him than someone that inexperianced with small animals if I couldnt get to his normal vet. And he said I'd have to drive hours for a good emergency ferret doc. After I realized which clinic he gave me info to I demanded his home number lol. He had a very interesting look on his face...but his nurse told me it was in the phone book so tough luck for him. He can't change it THAT fast I really want Rascal to get better quickly so I can switch them to raw and hopefully prevent Keawea getting cancer too. I'm going to try to eventually be feeding them same-gender mouse fuzzies primarily so they can utilize the hormones. Or if I can get my dad to breed his step-kid's rats and give me the young ones would work, but I highly doubt it. i wil ask him though. That would mean I could get Keawea started straight away and just freeze the males for my pet snake. Crap...i need to feed him. and my box turtle and lizards...they all kind of got put on the back burner when I was taking care of Rascal. Oh well my mom's boyfriends picking up the worms and crickets for the turtle and lizards and I have fuzzies in the freezer for Cupid. Anyways, he seems to be doing well, but I'll keep you posted!
