Hi, I recommend that you call your vet today and discuss your concerns.
How is your ferret feeling today??? Is he more active than yesterday? Is he eating peeing, pooping?
You had mentioned that your ferret had a bandage on...has you removed it?
How much blood seepage are you seeing? is the fluid more like Koolaid (kind of watere-down?) or is it bright red/thicker???) If the incision is still seeping very much, take him to the vet just to make sure everything is OK - it will ease your mind (or the vet can address any issues)
If you call your vet, he may have you bring your ferret in for a quick exam, which shoud be free of charge. My vet nevr charges for follow-ups, removal of stitches, etc.
My vet recomends using hydogen peroxide for cleaning incisions. Use kleenex or toilet paper instead of cotton, which gets hung up on the stitches. I probably would not clean the incision at this point.
Again, surgery is scary stuff, and your et is there to help you. The weekend is arriving quickly. Call your vet, describe your situation (your first fert surgery, symptoms, etc. If they think things are OK, you may want to ask if you can bring your ferret in on Friday for a quick check up (ask if they'll carge you for it) before the weekend.....the WORST is ending up with a problem over the weekend when your vet is not available. Emergency clinics are VERY expensive, and many time there are no fert vets available. Since your vet ses a lot of ferrets, the surery is probalam fine, but you'll have a much better weekend if you get reassurane from your vet!!!
I really don't have any natural remedies to recommend. And I wouldn't give and oral meds oher than something prescribed be yor vet. Pain meds can be very powerful, and they can last for a long time. Oral treatments could react poorly with the pain meds. (also pain meds can slow clotting , s the seepage you're seeing may be normal - but ASK)
Again, your vet s your best resource right now, and they know this is scay for pet owners.
-Please keep us posted. -jennifer

I'm in agreement with mustilidmusk on this. There is nothing that I would consider feeding my ferret at this time. At the moment the best thing for you to do is follow the directions as outlined by your vet. It's not uncommon for a wound to seep for a couple of days after surgery. If it gets hot to touch, swollen, red and angry looking or the clear discharge becomes thick looking then there are concerns that must be addressed. In a couple of days you may consider feeding a little yogourt (plain, not flavoured) or kefir (very little). This will help replace the good gut bacteria that would have been killed during the anesthetic and other meds that will have been given. Until then I would just sit tight and not feed anything out of the ordinary Good luck

Heather, I'm glad you mentioned the seepage from the incision - it ALWAYS freeks me out even though I'ma aware that it's common. I'll never get used to it!
