Good thing I was too afraid to go more than 5 minutes without making sure he was breathing. He's OK, but he needed a lot of help last night. First off he had loose poop and couldnt clean himself. Baaaaaaad combination when he needs to be kept really clean to prevent infection. I got most of it off with a warm paper towel. Then he went loco because his back legs dont work quite right (the bandage I think) and I had to pick him up to stop him from hurting himself. Apparently the only comfortable position for him is on his back, so I got him calmed down and let him sleep on my lap for a little while then put him back in the cage propped in the position he seemed to like on his snuggle flower. A couple hours later he was still on his back and couldnt roll over on his stomach but decided to drink some water anyways, so I got him on his stomach so he wouldnt aspirate it. Then he seemed to want to walk but couldnt because of his back legs and since I didnt want his surgery site dragging I picked up his butt so he could get around and it turned out he just saw the open cage door and wanted to get picked up again. I wanted to, but I'm not touching him any more than I think is neccessary, so I had to shut the cage on him and just pet him thru the bars till he calmed down. He still wont eat unless I feed him with a baby spoon, and just small amounts even then, but at least it's something. How long is the normal amount of time to feed him ground up moistened kibble before giving him his normal food back? The sooner he's well, the sooner I can start them on raw and ditch that nasty kibble for good.
