So last night Oliver and Penny got sick. Both projectile threw up their dinners (cow heart). So I went to the grocery store and bought some unflavored pedialyte, Pepto, and Pumpkin (just in case). I gave them the pink stuff and the pedialyte, then realized that i dont know how to give pumpkin to them.
I didnt think that they had a blockage. Maybe dinner just disagreed with them. I thought that it would be a good idea to figure out how to administer the treatment if it was needed and to get them used to it so they dont fight me as hard when it is actually needed.
So.....Syringe? Spoon?? And how much???

Well in cases of necessary pumkin, administer via syringe, no more than half a teaspoon! IF that much! In the case of regular maintenance just put a glob in a dish, most of my guys eat it free choice. I also freeze dry it and give it to them that way - just toss the dry cube in a dish and let them nibble as they want. I'll also add a crumbled dry cube to their soup.
The beef lier may have been too strong for them. I've not fed it, just use chicken liver.
Cheers, Kim

She fed heart, not liver (?).
With things like what happened to your fuzzies last night it's not a good idea to feed pumpkin or pepto. It's best just to keep them hydrated and let the problem pass on it's own, their bodies were just trying to get rid of whatever was causing it and by giving those things it makes it harder to get rid of.

Anytime I need to give pumpkin I just grab a scoop/ice cube (not the whole thing) and let them eat it. I don't need to force it, they love the taste!

They have eaten heart before, i guess this one was bad? who knows. my other two didnt have a bad reaction. so again, who knows.
i made sure to wait until they were done puking, then gave them meds a half hour later to settle their tummies. i then another half hour later, put down a bowl a warm soupie and they both gobbled it up.
I didnt think that they had blockages. i thought that they just gobbled to quickly and were toooooo full. so i never gave the pumpkin. I bought it just in case i got the feeling that it was a blockage, but i dont think thats the case.
thanks for the help!
