*chuckles* when beast is out i watch him like a hawk. when he does the potty dance i grab him and either throw(not literaly) him on the nearest hard floor surface or into his cage. it seems to work he stopped doing the hop backwards and spread on the carpeted areas (he still has messups when i dont watch cloes enoug) but if i catch him pooping or peeing and am too late to stop it he gets squirt with the water gun to tell him no (this worked until he decided it was FUN to get squirted and started wardanmcing when i did it) and if i catch him in time i put him on an area where its easier to clean.

My little girls like leaving their calling card that way. How do you stop them, good question Catch them and toss (not literally) them in the nearest litter box. Lady B Itchy is just now learning to use the litter box after 2 yrs. Today, I washed the entrance floor....she walked in and marked it. Just a little "B bomb". Just enough to leave her sent. She's my alpha female and she lets everyone know it. The boys are much easier to teach to use the litter box. Of course I have a couple who back themselves into the litter box and then stand with their back feet on the back of the litter box Got to love fuzzies ciao

Great! So basically my first ferret really was an angel straight from the gates of heaven, cuz she was perfect. But isn't that way with any first pet? Well, I guess I better work on my sense of humor and get comfy indoor shoes

I would either put some newspaper down or find an object that goes nicely in the middle of the floor!!!
Maybe if you go to the hardware store and get a 12 inch tile and put it where they keep going it will stop them. Take it up when they get the idea. It would only cost about $1.

IS it a new carpet? If no, it could be the location of a former resident's potty spot,so she's just keeping the tradition. And where's your sense of adventure? Wearing SHOES in the house! Pish posh! How in the world will you be able to locate the camo-poop? You mean you don't like the feel of a cold poop oozing between your toes? Or a gooey smear glued to the bottom of your arches/ Or the oh so warm and toasty sensation of a fresh pile sliding beneath your heels?
Come everyone get up and do the new poopy dance! You put your left foot in, you hike your left foot up, you hop ~ hop ~ hop~ on the right foot - don't stop till ya drop.
Cheers, Kim

Well, Fang is no longer with me. Heather has him, and has changed his name to....oh I forget. But it's cute. Anyhow, I will continue to wear shoes as long as I am holding a baby. No hopping allowed.

I would do a thorough cleaning of your carpet. I know theres some type of powder you can sprinkle on your carpet, then vacuum it up and it takes away the smell. Anyone know what I'm talking about? I could swear I read it on this forum, but then again my memory failing me a lot lately!
Never mind, someone actually just told me during a Febreeze talk! Take baking soda and sprinkle it on your carpet, wake 15-20mins then vacuum it up and that should help take care of the smells. Same thing with the litter box, sprinkle some under your litter and that should help with smells. Soaks up odors. Pretty sure I read that here.

Mr Squiggly, ... Mr. Fun-go Squiggly...He's an absolute angel at using the litter boxes...he does bite though. He loves to be held and snuggled but I spooked him today and he didn't forgive me anyway....he attacked...hissing and everything. Not once but several times. I finally picked him up and snuggled him until he relaxed, then we played for a little bit and he's run off somewhere. He was playing with Ghenghis Gone and Napoleon Blown-apart the last time I saw him. I really believe that this boy may be deaf, so we will wait and see. ciao
