I was just told that it was APPAULING the way i held Beast in a photograph. He was in the harness hold and they toldme i need to STOP trying to kill him! WHAT THE .... never mind..
Its so freaking unfair. This one kid said "My mother is a vet and she'd be appauled at what you;re doing to that creature even if it is a stinky Bastard"
I hae a ery very low tolerance for ignorance and stupidity. Why dont people understand? and why wont they listen?

People drive me crazy sometimes. I'm very opinionated about vaccines and diets and such and they think everything I say is a glob of dirt.
Some people just like starting fights. I live in the city and there is a guy that used to work with my father, he knows we feed raw and if we were going to get them food we'd say something about it.
Me: "We're going to get a goat Today"
Him: "Uh, No you aren't"
Me: "Yes we are"
Him: "No you aren't"
Me: "Why do you say that?"
Him: "You live in the city, you can't have goats in the city its against the law".
We had arguments about things like that alot. And this guy is in his 30's. He had problems or something and it never registered in his brain that when we were talking about going to get chickens/ducks/goats that they were for dog food. Even if we were just then talking about raw and then said we were going to go get the meat. He thought we were getting them as pets or something. He was thick skulled. I laughed out loud in his face a couple times. Once I told him we were going to use our extra frigde in the basement for the dogs and HE told us we couldn't because my father was turning it into a kiln. Thats none of his business.
Don't pay those people any attention.

Gah! I ignore it, or at least try to. So far I haven't had any negative comments about raw feeding in person. I did get a few negative comments from kibble enthusiests ("but they're domestic") online. Although I do get tons of comments on how I parent my skin kids. The most recent being from a "nurse" who tried to tell me my baby was cold, and she could tell because her limbs were red. Yes folks, the color of coldness is no longer blue. She had just came out of a carrier and was nearly sweating. You have to learn to ignore it, or at least not get worked up over comments. They're just ignorant.

It can be frustrating when someone calls me a bad mommy but I KNOW Im NOT a bad mommy, so I dont get upset. Just like I would not get upset if someone said I had horribly ugly blonde hair (why get upset over something that isnt even true )

You never know what your going to run into when you talk about your animals diets. I've never had a fight with anyone about it.. I've had some laughs. My aunt is very curious about it. She said she wouldn't want to feed raw but she likes hearing about it.
I always STRESS to people IT IS NOT AS SIMPLE AS THROWING AN ANIMAL A SLAB OF MEAT.
My aunt Tammy is old enough for you to think she is smart but she thought ferrets eat fruit and veggies.
I have 8 aunts (more but I'm talking about the ones I know) and they all have different opinions. My aunt Wendy told me she was getting annoyed about us always emailing her about raw. I think its funny though.

I haven't received any really negative responses, but when I told my family I was going raw the first time, they all questioned me. Acted like they knew more about ferret diets than I did! But I know its because they assume what is a cat or dog kibble is just perfect for that cat or dog, or why would they sell it? Same reason they sell us fatty foods! Because we buy it and many people do not educate themselves about what is healthiest!
Oh well, now I have ferret friends to talk about the raw diet with. Most of my friends are fascinated with the idea of feeding raw meats and live prey. Live prey especially! Otherwise, I try not to go into detail, especially with kids because I don't want to freak them out. So I usually say kibble! And I know what you're thinking, reality.

i was just mad that because i was holding him in the harnes so he would sit still for thw photo that i was called an abusive mother even if they are "stinky" (which i dont think so at all i love the ferrety smell they have!)
They were juat being biased and cruel and it made me rather angry as i love my ferrety very much. (apparently other people dont want to hear about them as much as you want to brag about them XD)

Theres absolutely nothing wrong with the harness hold. As a vet, the mother should know as well that is used with kittens. I often how my Dad's cat like that! Its totally comfortable and doesn't hurt them in anyway.
Do not let it make you made that someone is miseducated. If anything you should pity the boy who doesn't want to learn new things or doesn't have anyone there to show him.

The commercial brand name kibbles aren't even good for dogs and cats. They have all kinds of crap in them that are very unhealthy and indigestible for the dogs and cats and other animals. I'm seriously thinking about switching all my animals to raw since you can't really find any kind of dog or cat food that doesn't have additives, preservatives and other things in them that no one should ingest into their system. I wish people would wise up and educate themselves about proper nutrition for their pet(s). And you are not a bad ferret mom charmantpapillon. Just it let it go in one ear and out the other...

That sounds like a great idea to switch your other animals! There is a thread here in the Odds and Ends section, and also the RawPaws Yahoo group give great info about going raw with other animals!

Yeah we have 6 cats (3 of which we're trying to find good homes for) and we'll be getting 2 dogs soon too. I should have my dogs by now though but the guy kinda skipped out on us.

I can help you switch the kitties (Zephyr eats raw and whole prey) and for the dogs I HIGHLY reccomend the raw forum on dogster.

Everyone I know calls me the crazy ferret lady......yeah, whatever ha ha ha ha How strange when they come to my house they always want me to bring the ferrets out!!!!! I agree, I confine large ferret discussions with my friends on the forums. Ive been lucky enough to meet three people in my city that have ferrets so we have playdates and I have real time people who understand my love of ferrets. There are stupid people everywhere. You could find someone who would argue about sliced bread if you look hard enough. I just enjoy the people who share the experiences in life I do, and let the rest go find someone else they can argue with. There is too much positive in life to waste my time listening to them!!
