Hi guys I am new to these boards. You my know me from Everything ferret.com, I am a member there also. I have been A ferret owner since 2005 when I first got Skunkers. He will be 3 at the end of this month. And I got my new guy Thomas J a little over a month ago, and he is 4 months old. I work in a great pet store here in NJ and we sell Marshall's Ferrets. And best of all this pet store is Privately owned and we mainly only sell Natural foods, Organic foods and Raw. My reason for joining here is I was wanting to learn more about switching to a Raw diet for my boys and I am here for Holistic health for my ferret Skunkers who has very early stages of Insulinoma and Adrenal. So if anyone has any suggestions... I also have two cats, three rats, and a blue crayfish.

Your babies are adorable!!! Is skunkers an albino or butterscotch? The yellow is very cute. Thomas J's mask should be very prominent soon. as you can see in my siggy banner Rolo was hooded when I first got her. Not anymore!!

When I first got him he had a Grey stripe down his back to his tail. Then six months later the grey stripe turned all white and all he has now is a small grey spot on his tail. He got his name from that stripe he had. Skunkers is yellow I think because of his early sings of Adrenal. He is always itchy and his face gets really dirty looking. I wipe it of and its back in a week.

Welcome to the holistic forum! we're always happy to see more folks turning to a natural way to offer their ferrets optimum health! Glad to have you here!
Sorry to hear you are dealing with health issues already. With some luck and perseverance a natural approach may offer Skunkers a healthier life!
Is he already on meds for the problems? Switching insulinomic ferrets can be a little more difficult, but is doable.
Got any pix of your blue crayfish? Ever made him roll over with a magnet?
Cheers, Kim

Welcome! Im happy to have you! Your babies are too cute! Your 4 month old should be a BREEZE to switch to raw, Skunkers might even suprise you and switch quickly because he sees his little brother eating raw. And if not, never fear we'll get him switch. I've switched two 3 year olds and while they were tougher to switch then the 6 week old I switched, they were NO where near as hard to switch as De, my 8 year old We'll get your babies onto more natural foods, just follow the links that buzzonesbirdie gave ya and you'll be good to go If you need anything feel free to PM me personally.

Welcome! Your babies are adorable! Hope you enjoy this forum, there's lots of great info here! Just out of curiosity, were does your profile name come from? My profile name never really came from anything. About six years ago when I first had my computer and needed a name for profiles, I just put the two words together. Also I am Norwegian, if that helps and I love Mythology!

But I got both my ferrets to roll over with treats. It's the easiest trick to teach a ferret. They both learned it in less then two days. Skunkers has been on 0.1 of Pednisone once a day and then I was told to give him Nutri Cal everyday. I dont think this is the best method and I am looking to do something different
