Out of curiosity, does anyone know how long lupron is usually effective for when treating adrenal disease? Sinnead has been on lupron, same dose, for almost 2 years now. She's been doing really well on it, beyond the fact that she's not grown back her tail hair since spring shed, and she still exhibits some sexual mounting behaviour, but that's never really gone away entirely. I know we'll have to increase at some point, but I don't know how long it is normally effective for.

I think it depends on the ferret Make sense Depends on the type of tumours, malignancies or not, age of the fuzz. Seems that the older ferrets benefit more than the ones who get this at an earlier age. Truthfully, I think they are as sure as the existance of will-o-whisps in the forest . ciao

Good point! It's just that I've heard ferrets seldom go more than a year and a half or so before having to increase the dosage, and possibly considering surgery as well. Which I do NOT want to do with her.

Ovana did great on the same dose of lupron from Oct. '09 until she passed away from insulinoma a few days ago. I honestly think if insulinoma hadn't been a factor she would have lived a few more years happily and easily...she had a very full coat, no aggression, after the first couple doses there was no indication she was ill other than knowing the state she was in when she was rescued.
