Anyone have experience with a ferret that swings back and forth? Trixie gets both low low sugar and HIGH sugars. The vet is recommending pred and insulin based on which end she is at. It's very frustrating, hard to monitor (urine stick, blood work ups). I'm having a really hard time seeing that this is helping her at all. Anyone experience this? Treat it differently?
thanks

Chromium helps with utilizatio of insulin. I may help stabilize blood sugars. Liver, beef and turkey are good sources for chromium. This may help with sugar highs and lows.
One winter Tonto blimped out - his blood suagr and insulin levels rose to be near the high end of normal. I reduced his food intake, supplemented with liver and increased his exercise. The vet has been amazed since he's been normal ever since. I think he must have become pre-diabetic with all that extra blubber he packed on - I mean this little guy can really pack on the weight if I let him. He has a LOT more energy now, and it's been about 2 years since his blood work was off.
