I have raised Mice before the ferrets for snakes.. I have also had pet mice just about all my life, I have also had hamsters, and rats...
That being said, I always thought mice were so easy.. I have my mice in 60 gal fish tank, one buck and three does, also a few babies from the last litter..
Has anyone ever used guinea pigs? My daughter has a male and a female because I thought I would try it, She also has three rats, one buck and two does.. One of the doe, we raised on a bottle, she sure is a sweet rat..
I have fed my ferrets lots of different foods, one never knows how situations will be later on in this world, so I always want to be prepared..
My ferrets were raised on ferret kibble, meat baby food, sardines in oil, pinky mice and fuzzy mice, pinky rats and fuzzy rats... Also sliced canned cat food in gravy.. I would always make a lot of gravy with warm water added to the cat food...
When I got a stock pile of mice, and rats in my freezer, I have slowly took away the cat food till now, I only giving it once a week, just so they will still eat it, because one never knows...
Recipe one: In their bowl I mix up, ten to fifteen pinky mice, two jars of meat baby food, mix with 1/2 cup of low sodium meat broth, or broth I have made myself, and warm water.. I also mix rats up that way too... Some times they get sardines in oil in the morning so I can clean the cage good during the day too on those days.. Once a month they get those..
I have thought of expanding their food to guinea pigs too... How hard will that be to get them to eat those??
I eventually want to raise all their food... We also raise chickens, sometimes I give them some eggs, they love that too...
