I've been looking around trying to find a good, large cage for sly.
We have an okay one right now, but it's really hard for me to clean it, so I want something easier.
Now when I look at FN cages, they all look the same to me, I don't know the difference at all, I just notice the prices.
I want a double story cage that he can run around in, and I would like him to have good space for litter, and eating and I would like to fit tubes ect inside. (His cage now is pretty barran)
Can someone help me tell the difference between the 143, 142, 141, 163 ect. I know some are single, but for the double ones.. whats the difference!
(and what do you guys have, or prefer?)

They didn't have any last time I was there. And do they have ALL the models so I can see which one is best suitable for me?

The difference between the FN models is how many levels there are. There is the FN 141 - 1 level, 142 - 2 levels, 143 - 3 levels, and the add on to give you an additional level. Otherwise they are designed exactly the same. Hope that helps.

Actually that helps a lot! but someone else was talking about expanding the base? or he bought one base that was larger than the expanded one?
so is there a model number for how wide the base is?

Not sure about the base thing but here's a pic that might help a bit: lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/duradog/FerretNation-Array.jpg The first one is a 141, the second a 142, and the third is a 142 with a 143 added to the top. As for where to get one, www.ferret.com/ usually has the best new price. You can also check Craigslist. I see them there fairly often for pretty good prices. I'd recommend getting the 142 and if you decide you need more room later, you can always add the 143.

Thanks Blue, I was looking at ferret.com, sadly they don't ship to canada.
Yeah the base thing is what has messed me up so much, and some websites don't have dimensions only the model number so that's confusing too.

Believe me- the 142 is big If they don't have it in, ask someone from that department- they can tell you the next expected shipping date. That's how I got my last one. And then HAUNT them

You might want to call a local ferret shelter to see if they have any ideas where you might be able to get on. If not....try the following: www.ozbo.com(they have good prices and they ship to Canada) Last I looked, they had the same prices as ferret.com AND, you can get online coupons that will give you an additional discount on top of that. If you add a cage to the shopping cart, you can then add your country and zip code to get the shipping cost. I don't know anything about the international taxes/duty. so that could add a little more. Here are the details in the cage models: Model #141: This is the bottom level of the cage. It has the stand with storage under the cage (one story) Model #142: This has the bottom level with a second level on top. (two stories with the stand/storage below) Model 143: this is a sinlgle story unit designed to go on top of either the #141 OR the #142 cages. The best pricing for a two or three story cage is to buy the 142 first and add the third flor later if you find you need it. I do know people who started out with 141, and they later bought two #143 units at differnt times to spread the cost out over time. -jennifer

Thanks Jennifer, I checked Ozbo, good site, great prices, but with shipping the cage is almost 500! I might just find a way to pick it up in the states or break down and buy it in a store. (which will make it 300, if I get it in stock hah)
Thanks for the explaining. I have another question about the ladders in the cage, How have you guys concored the feet and toes getting stuck in the bars? I heard of covers, but how do yo cover the top, or where can you buy them? (i'm not very crafty)

I buy ramp covers, and they are velcroed fully above the top bar. Since the ramps are J-hooks, it works well.
