A cage. Fish tanks have terrible ventilation. Ferrets have sensitive respiratory tracts as it is without putting them in a tank.
Not to mention, ferrets need their cage to be as spacious as possible. Most tanks will be way too small. A tank has no where to hang hammocks and a ferret's cage should have multiple levels.

Tanks are a terrible home for a ferret, they're for fish. Even snakes and reptiles would have a better space but can live comfortably in a tank but not ferrets. They're not a creature that can thrive in such a confined space. Consider this. Would you put a cat in a fish tank?? Ferrets and cats are the same type of creature. Both hunting, highly intellegent carnivores. ciao
