how much do you guys pay for you're mice and rats? i don't mean ordering from rodentpro, or something like that.
i mean from buying from people or pet stores. i tried breeding mice, its insanely easy, but i had a disater, and can't keep them anymore, so i'm going to CO2 the ones i have, and just buy them from now on.
what are the prices for a single mouse/rat? or many(please include the stage of the mouse/rat)

I can't remember the exact cost, but when I had a single ferret and I was feeding her live, whole prey it cost an insane amount of money. Something like $10.99 for 4 small, frozen mice from Petsmart or $1.50-2+ per live mouse from a local petshop. I will never buy local again. I just can't afford it. Either Rodentpro or private breeding is the only way to go, IMO.

Christ we have one tiny local pet store, it's about $4 per mouse and they don't have feeder rats, just a couple pet ones for $8 apiece. Due to the crazy cost of buying live and lack of freezer space breeding was my only option. I only wish I could find some feeder rats to start breeding as well. There's no other private breeders near me that I know of. I've thought breeding more and trying to sell a few just to cover costs, I would charge about $1 per mouse. Online is around .50 an adult mouse or less but shipping kills.

yea, i found two places, and the prices are pretty great, although one covers large orders and the other does smaller orders, and they are near me and free deliver over 20$, haha, so i might purchase the rats from there, and the mice from the larger order one. i don't know how much the pet stores around here sell them for, so i'll probably call them, i found a rescue for reptiles, and they breed their own mice/rats, so i sent them an email.

Pet stores I've found are usually pretty expensive, but there was one a few hours away (Roanoke, VA) that shipped for free (I think, it's been a long time) and it was only $0.25 per frozen adult mouse which is an awesome deal! You have to buy at least 50, but it just gives you a longer supply. I'm not sure how far they ship or if they're even still in business, but I can see if I can find their contact information for you ;].

Try finding a local reptile/snake rescue. They will be able to put you on to a good, reliable source for healthy frozen/thawed prey, as well as live.

i have contacted a reptile rescue, twice, and received no reply. so i guess i'll have to find another one. but i do like this one place. so i'll order from there and see how it goes.

Do you ever have anything like a "Pet Expo" near you? That's where a lot of rescues(dog, cat, ferret, reptile) get together with breeders and various groups, set up booths, and basically talk to people about the various animals they have. That's where I got the name of my present supplier for whole prey.
