I found a fantastic list of what to feed on another site. The gal said that she feeds feeder bugs like crickets, mealworms, etc. I have a question, when you feed these bugs, are they dead or alive? I just worry about crickets getting out and running ramped threw my apartment.

Live would probably be best, don't know where you'd find dead ones except the canned and I wouldn't feed those, probably lost most of what makes them healthy. I would feed them in a bathtub or large tote so nothing is getting loose.

With feeder insects I would try pre-killed first (yes it would be canned, but they are packaged to keep freshness and are moist upon opening the can, I had an anole once). If they like the pre-killed I would think about offering live but not for long I get the heebee geevies.

For almost any bug, you can chill them for an hour in the fridge first, to send them into an almost hibernative type of sleep. They're movements will be a bit sluggish, but will move enough to interest your ferret, especially after a few moments of warming up Most people I know feed them in a tub(use the plug!). Less chance of escaping that way.
