We brought Mr Lynx in for his first check-up. We are fostering him for the GCFA, and picked him up a few weeks ago. Mr Lynx is 8.5 years old, blind, and has a chordoma on his tail.
We don't have the bloodwork back yet, so I can't tell you about that, but he is good shape for his age.
We've decided to leave the chordoma; it isn't causing him any pain. It is about 12mm long, by 10mm wide.
During the palpitations, we felt some bumps on his tummy (Dr N had us feel around, he said Mr Lynx was a great example since the organs were all where they should be and we could feel them). His bladder was full, which surprised us since he had just left a deposit on the floor.
We had xrays taken, and there was some dark areas in his lung. We listened to the breathing and heartbeat again, and didn't find anything unusual.
There were some unusual findings high up in his abdoman - near his gallbladder. It looked like he may have gall stones? It was a very dense "object" there. I asked if he could have ingested something - and Dr N said that it was too high up to be in his stomach. The blood results might show something, though.
There was also something that looked like a growth near his adrenal (or liver or kidney), that was what we were feeling during the palpitations. Seeing that he isn't completely emptying his bladder when peeing, it could adrenal. The blood tests won't show adrenal issues, but it will show the others.
Mr Lynx's tail is a little dirty (looks like black heads). When I asked what I should do to clean it up for him, the doc said to make a pastey-goo out of baking soda and water, and then use a toothbrush to clean the tail off.
At 8.5 years old, and seeing how he still has good quality of life, we aren't going to do any exploratory surgery or anything crazy. At his age, also, were are only supposed to fast him 3-4 hours, nothing more. He weighed 1074 grams, btw.
We also got the geriatric discount on Mr Lynx (15% off).
I'll keep people posted.
