I feed my babies COOKED natural foods (Pingford's Porridge), and yes I feed kibble, too.
I will attempt raw chicken breast soon. I spend the majority of my time online answering emails and letters from ferret folks, helping them acclimate their ferrets to PP and other new, healthy foods. So, I'll use my own advice and add bits of raw to their PP and see how it goes. I actually may use chicken thighs now that I think about it. That's what goes into PP and they're used to the smell and taste.
I'll toss some mice in there soon, too. Ground up, raw-frozen types.
YUM!!

Hey, Kim! We have several newbies on HF that are working to switch their ferrets to all raw (or some raw). Feel free to check out the advice in their threads, they are stickied at the top of this section. Also, feel free to start your own post where you update us on the progress of your raw journey. We are here to help if you encounter any problems.
The best advice that I can give, is just go at a pace your ferrets are comfortable with. Start out with pinky fingernail sized (or smaller) pieces of chicken in their PP. See who eats the chunks, and who eats AROUND the chunks. Your kids are used to PP, so luckily you dont have to go through the process of getting them to like soup and THEN getting them to try raw.
If you need any assistance, advice, etc just let us know! We want you succeed. Adding natural foods to the diet, or feeding all natural is something I STRONGLY believe is vital to ferret health. Your kids eat PP which is great, but adding raw to their menu (in place of kibble, or in addition to it) will be even better!

Thank you! I sure appreciate it. I'll be sure to come back here with questions and to report on my progress.
I'm wondering, do any of you ever liquefy your raw foods and feed it as soupie? I'll be that would go over even better!

One of the methods of transitioning your ferrets to a raw diet is to feed them a raw soup FIRST and then add small chunks of meat to that mix. We suggest that people toss some cut up chicken or beef in a blender with some water and a little tone and crushed kibble. You can get it to a "babyfood" like consistancy, and it works well with getting a ferret to switch to raw. Raw feeders will also liquify raw food and bone for "raw duck soup" when our furbabies get sick

Jenn! Hi! How you doing, lady?
I just noticed...I am "Queen of the Soupies"! Sayyy, I like it!
I have quite a bit of raw on hand and I have a vita-mix commercial blender. I think I'll do the soupie method first.
