I picked up a tub of the plastic easter eggs and put them in a box and what a big hit they are. Flower gets in the box and just pushes them around until one gets out of the box and then they all fight to push it around with their nose. It holds their interest for quite a while I'm surprised how much they like them and how often they play with them.

Eggs are kind of a natural for ferrets...animal behaviorists speculate that the "egg-scooting behavior" is an instinctive wild behavior associated with raiding eggs from birds nests. Egg sccoting behavior is when the fert tucks the egg into her tummy and drags the egg, holding it with her paws, as she scoots backwards. Since polecats and ferrets tend to live in prairie habitats, ground-nesting birds are targets for tastey ferret meals. Make sure you buy the thicker plastic eggs - my fert chomp right through the thin ones. They've gotten the thin ones stuck on their teeth and pinched their tongues. -jennifer

Cassi LOVES her easter eggs. She has even been able to wedge her mouth open wide enough to pick them up and carry them off. We discourage this as much as we can b/c we're afraid of her hurting her jaw, but she seems to be fine.
Replace them when you find that they have gnawed them so much that tiny pieces of stredded plastic is coming off. We've never had a problem, but i still do not want my little monster swallowing plastic shavings.

Katrinka is my first ferret to do the scooting behavior, but both Fierra and Ghia was/were nose rolling champs! There should be some sort of ferret soccer using those skills.

my upstairs is all hardwood and tile, so Akiko will do the nose roll for a good 10-20 minutes at a time! I found if I put a bell inside and duct tape it closed, she gets even more frantic...she can't hear, but she can feel something rattling in there. The other ferts don't care, and the cats only like the one's I've put bells in. She doesn't like to scoot the eggs though...she reserves that for her Koosh Ball
