It was almost 5 years ago that my husband brought me home a surprise baby girl ferret, Kimba, to cheer me up after my "work dog" Haley passed away. Even though she battled Adrenal Disease 4 of her 5 years you would have never known it from her spirit. She never failed to put a smile on my face or bring happiness to my heart.
A few weeks ago I noticed how frail she looked and then 2 weeks later she stopped eating and wanting to take her melatonin. We helped her as much as possible but realized it was to no avail. Last Wednesday, I held her most of the day and abandoned fruitless efforts to get her hydrated or nourished. She waited until my husband got home from work to spend a few minutes with him and then it was not more than 5 minutes after she was back in my arms that her little heart gave out and she passed.
I promised her I'd be strong for the others - as she had always done for me. Your "mate" Ozzy is getting all the xtra love possible and your frenemy, Niblet too - who is just so lost without you to wrestle with during waking hours and nap with during resting.
Gentle journey my little angel. Thank you for seeing me successfully through my surgery and I'm so sorry if the stress was too much. Many friends await you at the bridge my little master stasher. Thank you for our last weasel war dance on my bed. You'll always have the piece of my heart you stole and I the fond memories of the fun we had until we meet again.
I am so grateful for what I consider the "extra time" we got to spend together since switching to an all natural diet and the last 3 years on the oral melatonin.
