Our baby Oatmeal went to the Bridge this afternoon. He went from being a perfectly normal, cat-terrorizing, sock-stealing ferret on Tuesday to a weak little baby who could barely move his hind legs on Thursday. It turns out he had tiny tumors through his intestinal system, and one of them ruptured. Good-bye, my sweet little fuzzball. We'll miss you.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss! It is hard to lose a ferret, but even more so when it happens so suddenly. Know that he is now pain free and dancing happily at the bridge. You will be kept in my thoughts.

Ohhh, little Oatmeal. I"m going to miss you I loved hearing about your antics and how difficult you were being about eating your new foods. I could not help but smile as you frustrated both your momma and me. I"m so sorry that you ended up so sick. I will light a candle to guide those little paws on to their next great adventure. Run free little one, you are no longer in pain, your body is now your own again as you bounce and dook. You now play with the many who have resently left on their journeys too. You have so many new playmates who will help you fill in your time until you can once again be reunited with your momma. Goodbye little Oatmeal, you will be missed ciao

I'm so sorry you lost your little Oatmeal. It never gets any easier, does it? But I hope your memories will soon bring you smiles instead of tears.

Thank you all for your kind words and thoughts. Sorry I didn't post this sooner, but I guess I was kind of avoiding it. Just reading these posts made me tear up a little. I've caught myself calling one of the other ferts "Oatmeal" by accident - oddly enough, I almost never did that before he left us. Anyway, thank you again.
