I left Friday night and all of the ferrets were doing great, I got a call on Sunday saying that Weezer was sickly. I asked my parents to make sure that he stayed fed. When I returned Monday I went to go check on him, he had lost weight and was weak but was doing much better then my parents had reported the day before.. I figured that maybe he hadn't eaten the Ziwipeak and Neura canned food that we left for him to be fed. He could walk and he wanted to play but if seemed that his body was just too tired to do what HE wanted to do. We were giving him honey and electrolytes, plus some half and half. We would give him a bit of that and then we would give him some ground beef. He was doing really well until later last night, his nose and paw pads turned red.. He didn't have any energy. Since at this point the vets were closed we just tried to keep him fed, I had even rubbed some honey on his gums..
Today he was much worse, I think he may have been in a coma at first. We had realized that it was likely to be insulinoma and wanted to get him to the vet ASAP. Out of the 2 vets here the best one was out of town (he is well known and does seminars), we called the other one and they wanted us to sign a contract and pay $250 for it.. Agreeing that we would allow them to do any treatments in order to save him, that would have been on top of whatever the treatments cost.. We decided to tell them that we were going to head that way my mother was getting ready so we could leave. We were on the ferret cam and Dar told us to start rubbing honey on his gums until we got to the vet. We did that and he perked up, but then he started going down hill.. His breathing became labored, then it got worse. He seized a bit then passed.. Prior to this we had been contemplating having him put down, he got really bad to quickly we weren't sure that they could fix it anyway.. And it would not have likely been permanent.
I miss my baby boy, he was my first fuzzy. He is the one who made me find Lily, Ravi and Lakota.. They are already filling his shoes, bugging Tessa, attacking flip flops and knocking stuff over to make messes.. They knew we were sad so they started war dancing and dooking up a storm. I love them so much.. I love my Weezer, he had his own little antics and enjoyed eating makeup.. He would always sneak up on you and he enjoyed being a "bed bug", you could lay there watching tv and feel something under the sheet.. It would be him trying to make you smile, sometimes you could even "attack" him through the sheet and he would attack back.. He loved plastic bags and he LOVED playing "kick the ferret", he would be in the middle of the floor and I'd walk toward him and I would kick toward him without touching him... He would war dance back wards then war dance toward me.
Video of all of them playing (When Lakota was introduced).
