So I have two bins with no babies.....so when I was re-arranging bins, to increase the females per male ratio, the "females" weren't getting pregnant, so I put another male in each bin, thinking there were no males...as they got older, it's now easier to see that they are ALL boys...no wonder I have no babies...LOL So, I am waiting till I get mature girls from my current litters, & re-setup those bins.

Figures, doesn't it? And if you WANTED to have a bin of all males, you KNOW at least one of them would turn out to be a girl!

Though with lots of practice and handling of the mice it is pretty easy to sex them. Practice makes perfect....most of the time

You have my deepest sympathies, and I so can relate, only my problems was the other way. I had set up a bin of males to be fed to my furbrats when they got big enough....go figure I check on them to get them ready for slaughter...and find a whole batch of wiggly pinkies How's that for a bit of heavy incest So, fed the naughty boys to the brats and when the girls are finished with their litter all their furbabies will go as food as well. I don't know what I will do with 2 little girls but hey, they did their bit so they can stick around for awhile, they're good mommas. I had some real problems sexing this batch I don't know why it was so different this time. I've been fairly good at figuring it out until this litter . ciao

Well, I know it's not just me having problems sexing the mice...I placed them based on what the pet store gave me! Ugh. O'wll. AND, as it turnes out, I had THREE bins of all boys. I had a trio in one bin, that was SUPPOSED to be one male, two females. I got them all from one petstore, on the same day, so two of the "females" ended up being males. A couple started to fatten up, so I "assumed" the sexes were correct. I went in today to check...still no babies, so this time I do check their sexes...yup, all three males. So, the ferrets got a feast today. Heather, I am sorry, I had to laugh though...I guess that is better, even though we don't want incest, it did give you more food for the ferrets, rather than me, who has been waiting for babies...& waiting...LOL

Right before we put any mice into "new" bins we pick the mouse up by the base of its tail and lower it onto a table or flat surface, by that it is pretty easy to tell a male from a female.

I agree, but I'm not sure how the ferrets would feel about eating other feeder ferrets . This is part of the reason we stopped breeding mice, they are also constantly on the go so its difficult to get them to settle for sexing.
