lol yes its normal..My kits are 16 weeks old and when they get really excited they bite. My big biter is Hocus. He's constantly biting when he gets excited. I'm working with him though and handling him. Today we had a cuddle session with bitter apple on my hands as scruffing him only sets him off. Everytime he tried to get away from he'd nibble on my hand getting a bad taste of the bitter apple. He also went for my arm, so I put my fingers by his mouth he nibbled and got the bad taste again. I want to associate the bad tatse with skin lol

Definitely, Kits grow up taste testing everything! And besides that its grand fun to see a human jump when nipped! They absolutely delight in this!
Now, while Zippy is small, young and impressionable is the time to teach him to be nice to human skin. When you handle him or any adult, do NOT react to his nips - IOW don't jerk your hand back or make any exclamations, like "ouch!"
The bitter apple or Fooey is a good deterrent for mild nippers. Curb his nipping NOW until he turns into a full fledged biter!
When children play with him instruct them to ONLY use a hand puppet or a stuffed animal!. This will conveniently direct Zippy's teeth to a non feeling item that he can maul to his heart's content and will prevent children from reversing any training ZIppy has already learned!
Under NO circumstances snap, ping, bop, flick or otherwise stirke Zippy on the nose or any part of his body when he nips harder than he should!
Hold your hand still, this usually gets them to let go. When he lets go praise him.
If he grabs on and holds you while you hold still then gently push in towards him, this usually gets them to spit you out. Praise him.
Repeat as often as necessary.
Do a scruff and drag if he ever draws blood.
Hope this helps! Cheers, Kim

I'm using the Fooey now, Bitter Apple didn't do much to teach Apple that its not ok to bite me. He's way better than he used to be, but it seems everyone else just reverses what I am teaching! My boyfriend esp runs and jumps when Apple goes in for the kill. Even though I repeatedly tell him to sit still so I can reprimand Apple and teach him its not ok! Sigh....boys! I'm going to try the praising when he lets go now, I haven't tried that yet. Scruffing doesn't work so well for me either, he just gets more riled up. Thanks for the tips!
