Yea that sounds good... I have learned enough from you to work w her, and I guess I can always post a question if I need to. My last question is could u give me an example feeding plan? I mean I just kinda cut up different meat and stuff and throw it in a big bowl and serve them. But I know some people feed different foods different days, which do u think is better?

Hey sorry Ive been on interviews everyday and havent had much time to myself....anyways yes that is good what you do, thats what I do as well. every other day needs to be a "bone in" day, and the other days you can feed anything, and one day needs to be an organ day. Here is an example of a feeding sched.:
Monday: chicken necks
Tues: cut up beef
Wed: chicken wings
Thurs: cut up pork
Friday: cornish game hen
sat: organ day (chicken hearts, livers)
Sun: chicken gizzards
So something like this is good, then I will send it to Giuli or Heather and they will sign off on it then you can graduate!!! and when you want to start up again with Badger, you can start a new thread with her.

Hey just a question... on organ day do you feed them only organs? or other stuff too. Mine won't eat organs unless its hidden in ground chicken or has chicken juices on it.

Thats fine, you can feed other things too that day....just make sure they get in some organs is all

Ok, so here is my basic plan:
M: Turkey Meat (usually with a little chicken too)
T: Chicken Wings (They only like them cut up, hope that's ok)
W: Cut up Pork and Beef bites (with ground chicken mixed)
Th: Chicken Wings (I WISH I could find necks) F: Organs (so either hearts and gizzards or livers, with ground up chicken and salmon oil) S: Crushed up Cornish Game Hen
Su: I usually have more time so I mix up cut up pork, chicken, turkey and usually try some kind of fish.
I would like to try other meat, but ALL I can ever find is chicken, turkey, beef, pork, cornish game hen, and then fish... After my bank account recuperates (spelling?) from xmas I want to order some stuff from Hare Today.

Hey there, so this is what Heather said: "How is she finding her little ones stools? She really needs more bone in her mix, even if she adds ground egg shell to her meats on one day. I would like to see at least one more meal of boned meats. In my studies this year, I've found we have a tendency to short our furbabies calcium needs. Because of the shortened digestive track and the fast turn around time ferrets absorb a lot less nutrients (they have a tendency to poop them out) and one of the nutrients that they have a difficult time absorbing is calcium."
Let me know what you want to do to add more calcium....you can add ground egg shells, this is what I do when I cant find alot of different bone to add in their diets....let me know what you think..... other than that she said it was good!

I can do eggshells, how many would I add per ferret? I just didn't know if you can overdo bone or not? If not I can just add ground chicken wings (necks too when I order some since they can not be found around here to save my life!!) to whatever they are eating that day. I mean, it would really make it easier anyway bc I practically have to spoon feed everyone on the no chicken days. Just to clarify, when I say anything about ground chicken, it is ground with the bone and skin bc I have a meat grinder and do it myself with wings and breasts bc it is cheaper than the ground meat only stuff at the store. Idk if that makes a difference, but they do get some bone just about everyday. Just let me know.
As far as poop goes, they look normal to me. Sometimes I'll see a soft/borderline diarrhea but I really think it is when they eat Badger's kibble. I catch them sometimes, not often and put their food in front of them until they start eating. I know kibble and raw can cause problems with digestion rates. Life sure would be easier if Badger would not be a kibble diva. Let me know what I should do, and how often they should get bone.
Hope everything is going well with your new place!

you cant overdue bone if its meat bone, but for egg shells, you grind them up after they dry out then you would only feed about a tsp per ferret a week. And thats ok if you grind up the meat and bone together for the chicken. They need to have bone in their diet every other day ideally, but if they are getting a little bone everyday then that should be alright....I will let Heather know

Ok!
I was thinking about working with Badger some more...she has really perked up a lot and connected with Raisnette and Vanilla Bean...maybe she just needed another girl. Right now I have her on ZuPreem, but was thinking maybe I could try switching her to at least freeze dried raw or whatever so I can get the kibble out of the house, ya know? Bc I KNOW others are eating it too, but if it wasn't there they would eat their meat all the time. At the very least start with a really good kibble, though I would prefer freeze dried raw. Do you know where I could order some? Or what is best for ferrets?

There is a section in the raw feeding about where to get freeze dried meat and best places....if you cant find it let me know and I will search and post the link for you
and just to throw it out there, I think the best kibble (obviously only if you had to feed kibble) is innova evo for ferrets, it has the most amount of "real meats" and the least amount of grain and veggies....but thats just my opinion
