Aren't they all of European blood lines? Does marshalls have Swedish bloodlines in their breeding facility?

Mega Weasel is a Male, 1 yr 3 month, 2.8 lbs, champagne panda I think, and his toe tattoo is on his back left (right if you are holding him up in front of you) foot between his first and second toe. My other 4 are Marshalls and have only 2 ear tattoos. If I remember correctly, Beatrice had a toe tattoo, but I cannot remember where and she was a sable.

Others have also written to ask about that, if I remember correctly. I don't think they got any responses, but not sure.

I believe that Marshall's usually replies stating that it's for some internal tracking. They are vague, as always.

Well Marshalls got back to me after only...3 days!!! I didn't expect that but what they have responded is mostly useless... here's their response. Thank you for contacting Marshall Pet Products! Marshall Ferrets have two tattoos in their right ear to signify that they have been neutered and descented. Marshall Ferrets are toe tattooed, this is an internal system used to monitor post surgery health. On rare occasions, the tattoos may be exposed to moisture and may rub off. Best regards, Marshall Pet Products So basically, I think they are trying to say that All of the babies have toe tattoos but some of them get washed off I have several tattoos and none have ever washed off of me. Weird. I wonder what kind of magic ink they are using.

I'll take a look at my girls ear tattoos. I'd hate to think they use poor little ferret toes as practice Jacksmomma: that seems like a pretty standard response. Sounds like bologna that the tattoos would wash off

You know IF there is any truth to what they said I wonder if what it is, is those that get sick with some kind of infection are tattooed so they are not sold until they are well. Seems odd that MOST ferrets from Marshall wouldn't have toe tats and a few would. I know most animals I have had that were fixed had no issues after the surgery. However, I had a cat once that got deathly ill after she was fixed. She ended up with a gaping wound on her belly from the infection she got. She stayed at the vet for a good 5 days and was down for at least a week and had been on meds for a good 2 weeks when we got her home. I've personally noticed how some times when the pet store gets their shipments in some of the babies are bigger than the others. I'm wondering if they are kept longer to deal with infection from surgery. Next time I visit the pet store, or if any one else visits or works in a pet store you should check out the babies and see if the bigger ones have toe tats.

My ferret has the tattoo on his right ear. I've never checked his feet, but all of the ferrets that are at petco have the tattoo on their right ears.
