Cassiel just will not use her litter box outside of the cage. She goes right up to it, sniffs it and then poops/pees right next to it?
It's the same box that's in her cage and I always leave at least one pile of poop since I'm switching to World's Best but anything else I can do?
I've tried catching her in the act but I try to allow her at least an hour each time she's out before putting her up for nap time. Suggestions?

I found if I watched them like a hawk and put them in the box when they started to go somewhere else, then gave a few drops of olive oil or ferretone after they used it, after a couple weeks they got the point and started using it way more consistently (like 80-90% in vs. more poop out of the box than in). I have a couple that will fake it just to get the treat though . Sometimes they're just so excited it's too much work to get in the box so we've never had a 100% hit rate here, although the poop is always either in or next to the box, so to protect against that I put a layer of newspaper around the boxes (and a chunk of plastic carpet protector under that if it's over carpet). Also, after they've been consistent for a while, I tend to drop my guard and forget to carry the oil around with me and they start slacking again, so I have to re-train them. It takes a few months for them to "unlearn" the behavior, and they pick it back up within a week of me having treats again so it's more like a refresher course where they're reminding me of my job as treat dispenser .
