I was going to post this earlier. But "Merlin" chewed through my internet cable, so I was off line while I bought new cable and got someone to install it for me. I guess he was annoyed that Buffy got all the attention for a few days, so he let me know about it.. I fed the gang early Monday morning to find Buffy with a fairly big blister looking thing on her shoulder. It was just like a blister you get from a burn. We checked it out, could find no reason for it, nor did I have any idea what it was. She was in good health still and not in any obvious pain. When I got home from work, it was very big and firm, so I took some photo's of it. After a quick chat on Skype with forum members, and showing the photo's, we decided to take her to the vet. The vet said they are not unusual, and has seen them on dogs & cats, and does not know why or what causes them. He said if it does burst, then it will fill up again and they will keep coming back, so the best thing is to remove it. So she had a minor surgery, he shaved her shoulder and he cut it off, then cut out the remaining bad tissue, then cauterized it with some liquid stuff that looked similar to iodine. She was a very brave little girl, and only cried once when he lanced the blister, then she sat still and let him do his job like a true little lady. She never bit or wriggled or complained, I was so proud of her. Anyway, now it is looking good and healing nicely.

She looks like she's healing up quite well! I'm glad it didn't bother her too, too much having it removed. And Merlin is a brat

I agree Merlin is a brat, but an incredibly cut one!!! Did the vet take a sample of the fluid and have it analyze it? Make sure there wasn't any bacterial process going on? I only ask because one of my mil's rabbits get blisters similar and it's due to pasteurella... Can ferrets get pasteurella?

Napoleon has something that appears similar to what your little one has I don't know if you can see it very well. He has a tendency to cover it with his paws. It's on his left paw. The first time we had it drained, pulled it with a syringe, the second time the vet lanced it. Both times we sent the "contents" but the results came back as basically nothing. The contents were always clear, basically looking like clear water. The first time the "boil" came back within 2 weeks, the next time it was back within a month. We decided to leave it. It comes up and down in size (looks ugly) but it doesn't seem to bother Napoleon. The vet says that it has to do with an immune issue (despite raw feedings, Napoleon's immunity is not the best ) I warned you that brat, Merlin was going to give you a major run for your money ciao

Well that is interesting to see Napoleon has a similar blister, (he is sooo cute in that pic). No the vet was not worried about it enough to test the fluid, he does see these blister things on animals fairly often. Will be interesting to see if Buffy's comes back or not. Buffy has picked up after the "babies" really well, she has put on weight and looks terrific, look at the lovely shine on her coat in the 2nd photo, but her immune system may be down a bit too... Yes, you did warn me Merlin was going to be a terror, but hey, I love him to bits. He wasn't getting enough attention while I was cooking dinner, so he came and laid down on my feet, so cute.. Hard to believe this tiny little girl is huge Merlin's mummy.

I dont even know her and I am proud of her for you- I dont think any of my kids (ferts, dog or the cat) would be able to do that

Please keep me posted WTFerret what the vet says, and decides to do with it. I am very interested to hear the outcome.

Ok, I got a photo of how nice it is healing. It has helped that she is not bothered by it, she never scratches it, so it has helped the healing process. She has been such an amazingly good little girl through out it all. I am a very proud ferrent.. and yes, she is 1st on the list for a nail clip on Saturday, they grow soo fast. Looking so good, recovering from her babies well now. She has got that beautiful sparkle back in her eyes, and the gloss back in her coat. She is 2 years old next month..

What do you mean it comes back, do you mean after it has been removed by the vet?
