i would like to switch them completely to a natural diet. i would use meat i can buy locally and make my own food.
3. Why are you interested in switching your ferrets to a natural diet?
it is healthier for them and decent kibble is getting hard to find in my area without ordering on-line. though the main reason being it is much better for them.
4. Do you understand that switching your ferret to a natural diet can be a lengthy, arduous process? Its not an overnight switch. It can be a commitment of several weeks or even months. Your HF Mentor will be more then happy to assist you in switchng your ferret(s) to a natural diet, but you need to be equally as commited. If you aren't willing to tough out a potentially lengthy switching process, or if you have major life changes approaching (baby on the way, moving, starting school, getting married/divorced, etc) then it might be a better idea to wait on switching your ferret's diet until you have more time. Are you willing to make the commitment? yes
5. How many ferrets do you currently have? What are their names? Ages? Genders? Do they have any health problems? Are they overweight? Underweight? i have rocky, my boy, 3 years old, healthy though has dropped a little weight in the past month. lily, my girl, is rocky's litter mate and is healthy, bollwinkle is my "found in the neighbors yard" boy, vet says right around the same age as my two. he is bigger than they are. rocky weighs around 2 1/4 lbs, lily is about 1 3/4, bollwinkle was 2 3/4 in june 2010 when he was found
6. What diet do you currently feed your ferrets? (Please include all treats, supplements, etc): sunscriptions vita prima 36% protein, 1st 3 ingredients are meat and meat by products, and then mix in marshells only so they don't imprint on one food. i did order totally ferret vension which will be here in a few days. they also get n bones and ferrotone as treats. an occasional sip of milk is rockys favo treat!!!! we had a slight catastrophe....the dog helped herself to the last 4lbs of ferret food so i have been running store to store trying to find what i usually feed which was: totally ferret, 8 in 1 crunchy (the 45% protein one) and the little bit of marshells for their spoiled taste buds!!! the currently feeding list mix was the best mix i could find that wasn't full of corn junk!!!!
7. Have you ever tried to switch your ferrets to a natural diet in the past? If yes, what happened? yes..lily acted like i was feeding her battery acid!! then my car broke down and my job hours were long and i wasn't comfortable doing the switch when i had to be gone 12 hours a day. i am now working 5 hours a day and can come home to check on them before i have to leave for another 2-3 hours.
8. What additional information about yourself or your ferrets would you like to share? i think bollwinkle will be the easiest to switch as he will try to eat just about anything i eat. rocky and lily i can let "check out" my plate of supper cause i know they won't eat it, bollwinkle will try to taste whatever i have. rocky is my gonna be my "fence sitter". lily is going to be the devil in disguise!!!!
9. How often during the week do you have access to a computer? daily
10. Please post a picture of each of your ferrets (if possible). can't figure out how to put my files on here
