As many of you already know, Wysong has changed their Archetypal I freeze-dried formula from beef and chicken to chicken only. Here's why...... According to the response i got from Wysong, the formula was changed because they've found that the old school of thought for carnivore foods did not provide enough organ meats. The addition of more organ meats will provide a more nutritious diet. Why remove beef? Actually, I did not ask this question.because many nutritionists believe that single meat-source foods provide a more balanced meal. It's the "whole foods" concept that a species evolves to best utilize its natural food source. Do they still Make the OLD RECIPE??? YES!!! The Wysong Archetype BURGERS are the SAME RECIPE as the archetypal I. The difference is that they are in patty form that can easily be broken/crumbled into the desired size. To switch your ferret to the new formula, slowly add the new formula in with crumbled burgers. -jennifer

Jennifer I think I spoke with the same person at wysong. I was told the same thing. LOL . I have the wysong burgers. The consistency is a lot like the afs.very dry and boy oh BOY are they hard to cut!! Grab a saw!! think that the burgers are the same formula as the canine/feline. Smells the same. Has carrots but I haven't seen any carrot chunks. I will keep using the ferret archetype formula. I feed the arch burgers and canine/feline formula to the dog ( all chicken now also)and he loves it.

Personally I think their beef supplier raised prices.

Could be the supplier raised prices. Could also be that lawsuit they've been fighting with Purina. Not sure if that's even settled yet or not

There's a lawsuit they're fighting with Purina? What's that about?

Here you go: thepetfoodlist.com/forums/index.php?topic=965.0I'd forgotten- it was settled And yes, Wysong's won. The info they'd had posted on their site has been removed, however. Here's a short quote as to how they won from another link: Update on October, 29th 2009 by Walter Reynolds from Wysong. Thank you for your support! The patent office has rejected all 17 claims of a food probiotic patent (patent #5,968,569) previously granted to Nestec (Nestle/Purina) on October 19, 1999. This will effectively revoke the patent.

i have the wysong archetype burgers. i originally ordered them for my ferret but i have been giving them to the dog b/c the ferret has plenty of the wysong bags (old formula) to last him for several months. smells the same as the old wysong canine/feline arch.
