That is fantastic. I wonder how long it's good for. I wonder how much time it buys the furchild. I'm going to bet it's not a cure. I'm betting it's going to similar to our applications of melatonin, lupron and deslorin. Even if it is if it buys time for a dysplastic dog who's life or quality of life has so deteriorated that it can no longer function, it's worth it right? Now the key would be for the cost...what do you get...6 months, 10 months a year, 2 years and what people consider worth it. I know of a lot of giant breed dog owners (myself included who would love a crack at this, I book marked it to take up with my vet) thank you for the posting. Actually, I'm going to print it out next week and see what my vet says if it could be applied to Calypso (can you see me grasping at straws here ) ciao

Your quite welcome. I don't think it's a cure either, but it seems like it can dramatically improve the quality of life for animals that receive treatment. I don't think there is anything wrong with trying to keep an animal around longer, especially if you can take them out of their pain. The treatment is expensive ($1,800) but if it proves to be successful, definitely worth it.
Calypso is your girl with the spinal injury, right? She'll be in my prayers.

Yeah, her quality of life has gone down considerably. The vet is going to reevaluate her next week. The way it sits the prognosis isn't good . ciao

Cure or not, that sounds like it has some pretty amazing possibilities for our animals.

WOW that's amazing! I'm bookmarking this article too and plan to pass it along to my mil as she has three giants, an Irish Wolfhound, Tibetian MAstiff, and a Russian Ovacharka...my bil has a Great Pyr. I know that Cody the tibetian has horrible hips and can be quiet ornery, but he was rescued from a puppy mill and also had an embeded collar, he was in a 4 ft by 4ft cage with one female and 7 puppies.... If this is as effective as they say it is I'm sure this could help Cody be more comfortable...
