My fun loving guy Dean has adrenal disease, and it reared its ugly head over a period of 3 weeks. At first I wasnt sure, and then with christmas it made it hard to get into the vets. We got in, got a Deslorelin implant ordered but in the mean time I have a real problem with his aggression. He's usually a very happy ferret, dooks, dances, puts his head down-tail out and runs from one side of the room to the other. For the past two weeks all he does with every waking moment is attack my other female ferrets. He's attacked the baby, he really likes to pick on two of my smaller females.. he latches on and just makes them scream and WILL not let go. I have to pry his mouth apart to get them from his grip. He will spend an hour latched on to just one of them. I finally seperated him and put him in a cage. I feel absolutely terrible, he's so misreable and he throws tantrums wanting out.. but I have to hide all the ferrets from him and if theres no one to pick on, he comes out, eats and goes back to sleep. I know the Deslorelin will help, but from what I understand it takes 6-8 weeks to really kick into full gear.. I dont want to isolate him for that long =/ is there anything else I could give him that might help? I just want him to be happy again =/ It took Auggie about 4 weeks to get over his aggression but his wasnt 1/10th as bad as Deans is .. *sigh* it's breaking my heart

Do you have or can you get sudocreme? It's not some miracle creme....it's for diaper rash. You sparingly spread some of this on your little girls scruffs. It works wonders. I believe that it tastes terrible, doesn't smell to great either. I've had to use it with Captain Jack who is waiting for his des implant. He's a rather "passionate boy" His favourite paramoure is Napoleon (I know wrong gender but Jack doesn't care ) Napoleon was running around with sudocreme today because Jack insisted on roughing him up. ciao

Did you try melatonin? It made our ferret less aggressive.

I dont know if we have that kind of diaper rash cream or not. I don't have any real babies. I'll look today when I'm at walmart.
I do have melatonin I could give him, I didnt see any reduction in auggies aggression when he was on it though,

I got the sudocreme at Walmart. I don't have little ones either . It was a breeder who suggested it to me. I saw marginal improvements with the melatonin. Captain Jack, has stepped beyond the use of melatonin. ciao

You could also always get a shot or two of lupron til the des comes in. It reduces my boy's adrenal aggression markedly.

I'm going to be using lupron for Pooka because they don't have any des to ship until Feb I've managed to obtain some that we can use in the interim but they've not even started to process it. I was talking to my vet today. I was hoping to have Pooka on the des this month, she's not doing well. I'm only hoping that the lupron will help her a little, so that she can hold on until she can get her des shot. I'm already having to make a trip on Monday or Tuesday to take Calypso on her final ride to the vet. I'm not sure I can bear to take Pooka too ciao

Des takes about 2 to 3 weeks to work.
