I was thinking about ordering this sample pack from Hare Today bc I have very limited types of meet around me. However, everything in the sample pack has organs ground in too. I know that you are only supposed to feed organs once a week, but I mean at what amount? Would it be okay to spread the same amount throughout the week? I just need to find some diff meats and that is the best deal, but I was wondering if it would be organ overload? I'm really tired and not totally sure this makes sense, but I think I'm giving you guys an idea of what I am wondering...lol I hope.

Not to worry, I understood! The idea is to try to feed no more than, say, 2oz of liver, and the same amount again, of other organ meat. How you choose to feed that is entirely up to you! I've fed it both ways, and it doesn't really matter. They used to get weekly soups, but now they get it daily in their commercial grind. Some also just mince it up to feed with other meats throughout the week.

With the haretoday grinds, i think they grind up the whole animal (except the fur unless otherwise stated - you can get quail and rabbit with the fur/feathers) which leaves me to believe that they are already quite balanced for muscle to organ ratio. i give my guys a meal or two a week of rabbit heart (from Haretoday) and a small bit of chicken liver (brady is glutenous and tends to over-do-it on the liver and ends up making himself sick) but i think they are doing quite well on the ground mixes and primal. My guys LOVE the course ground rabbit bone/organ/meat and the course ground duck bone/organ/meat.

I use hare-today, too, and had the same question. What I do, now, is feed a half teaspoon of organ per ferret (right now I have turkey liver and ground rabbit organ, but I have some ground beef organ coming), once a week with a ground meal, just to make sure.

Ok thanks everyone. And sherrylynne, so that's a total of 4oz/day? But half one kind and half another? I need a scale...
So if I ordered that sample pack (10 lb) it would be ok as far as balanced? Bc I really wanna get more than the typical chicken pork beef (which they hate) and occasional game hen in their diet. But, I wanna try some stuff out and the sample pack seems like a good deal.

I had considered the sampler pack my first go-around with them... then i did the math and i thought i could do better choosing my own mix. At 4$/ lb (plus pretty s/h), the ground chicken, turkey, whitefish and salmon seemed to me like a waste since i can pick those up at the grocery store. I wanted the exotic stuff that i can't find - duck, venison, goat, pheasant, quail, goose... whatever you choose will be great though and the packaging is always nicely labeled and well packed; mine never even thaw out

Sorry, no- two ounces per WEEK of each . So, 2oz liver, 2oz other organ in total. Per day, I think they'd be pooping through the proverbial "eye of a needle" And if you are feeding commercial grind regularly, you need to take that into account as well. Since I feed commercial every morning, I usually don't give any extra liver/organ, other than what they get in the whole prey.
