Sounds like a plan. You may be able to move a bit faster with the other two but for now it's a good idea. I agree with you in regards to waiting until the antibiotics are finished. ciao

Atm, I'm just trying to get them to eat wet food. That is a struggle in and of itself. I have offered them chicken soup but they have no interest.

I found cats far more difficult than ferrets to switch, especially cats who are kibble addicts and don't eat moist food. If they eat moist food the switch is relatively easy. I did manage it a couple of times, but the switch to moist took the longest part of the switch . ciao

Pita's soup had a few chunks in it today and she ate them like a champ. Of course, first she ran off with them behind the bookcase, but she did eat them. I got smart for her lunchtime feeding and put her in a large bin I bought to use as a feeding den. I haven't converted it yet, but it's large enough that she could run to the other end and eat it there. If she's still good about it tomorrow, I might try a chicken thigh with cuts in it or a small wing and see how she does with that. Probably try that this weekend. I'm also thinking of ordering some freeze dried Stella's. These are what I'm supposed to be ordering, right? www.bigappleherp.com/Stella-Chewys-Freeze-Dried-Raw-Diets_2?sc=17&category=10581Sugar is still at the licking my finger stage, but I have to chase poor Spice away from the bowl so he doesn't get too much and upset his tummy again.

I'm guessing that Spice would like to dive in and munch? Poor wee lad. I will be honest with you, I know absolutely nothing about dried and freeze dried foods. I know that you have to rehydrate, otherwise you encounter the same issues that kibble does with dehydration. I believe that Sherrylynne and Jennifer both use freeze dried so you can either pm them and ask or post a thread asking about the best freeze dried foods available. I know that there are a lot of people on here that do make use of Stellas and I've heard good reports about them Sounds to me that Pita is doing really well. I would be moving to getting her to eat the boned meats. Fantastic. How is Spice doing? his stools starting to look more normal? ciao

Spice is doing much better. I've had to cut back on even the protein kibble and mix 10% Zupreem with 90% Meow Mix. I've noticed that anything more than that and he starts to get diarrhea again. I'm going to transition both Sugar and Spice to a higher percentage of the protein kibble over the next couple of month, increasing 5% or so every week.
They're still getting licks and little tastes of raw, just to keep them used to it.
I got the FN 141 that we got from Craigslist disinfected and set up. Pita is in there now by herself. Since she's eating from the bowl by herself, she can now have soupie available all day. I swtich it out 3 times a day but she pretty much empties the 3-4 oz portion in the bowl. Overnight she gets a combination Zupreem and Evo cat/kitten. Apparently, our local Feed Store carries all kinds of premium pet food. They didn't have Evo Ferret so I got cat/kitten but they said they might be able to order Ferret for me.
I ordered an FN 143 today. It should arrive in about a week. I'll be able to put Sugar and Spice in the top section and they'll sorta be in the same cage as Pita, but I'll still be able to keep them separated while they complete the food transitions.
Right now there are 3 cages in our living room. The FN 141, a 4 story SuperPets and a"My First Home" 1 level that Pita came in. I'm going to be extremely happy when we finally get the 143. It's going to feel like a whole new living room!
Oh yeah, in addition I ordered some Wysong Archtypal-1 when I ordered the cage. I'm going to try and start introducing it to Pita by sprinkling pieces on her soupie.
Do you happen to know where I can get Cheweasels? I've seen them mentioned but I can't find them online.

I'm going to guess pet stores, for the cheweasels...we don't get them up here. I would check out petstores that actually carry ferrets, you may find them there. Do some of the ferret online stores carry them? I would start to put some chunks or even offering Pita some chicken wings and see how she does with that. If she's eating her soupy consistently (unless you want her to continue eating kibble) and she starts eating some whole meats or boned meats I would remove the kibbles from her cage even at night and offer her the boned meats at night. That's great that you're going to get the 143...I've never actually seen it except in pics. I'm not sure it would do me much good as I don't think I could reach the upper level. I have to use a step stool to get the brats off the 142 when they decide that they're going to be spider weasels . Keep me posted as to your progress. ciao

I'm getting the 143 just as an addon. The FN I got on Craigslist might have been a full 142 (the door says model number 142) but it is only 1 level. By adding the 143, I get a 2 story FN for $50 less than buying new. It was kinda odd, because the woman I bought it from said she had gotten a 142 and that why she was selling this one. Why she didn't just buy the expansion level, I'm not sure. Except for the bottom tray which has a cracked corner and stained white from urine, I guess, in some parts - it's in perfect condition. All I did was order the new design shelf to replace the old one it came with. Even then, I got a deal because the one they sent was broken at two corners. When I called customer service they told me they'd send a new one (which arrived today actually) and I could dispose of the broken one. Well, I just created a pillowcase type cover for it and, tada!, I have two of the newly designed shelves for the price of one! Anyway, I am definitely planning on offering her a small chicken wing tomorrow and see what happens. This afternoon she got a big piece of skin + muscle that hadn't been ground up and dragged it ALL over her cage. Off to the side, down the ramp across the bottom and finally ended up in the litter box. She chewed a bit then left it there and went to bed. So cute! This evening I made her an eating den and put it right across from her dishes. Maybe that will keep her from dragging things into her litter box. The colors don't match, but oh well. Chewing on the big piece. New feeding den. I've only been leaving kibble at night because she does go searching for food every few hours. Once she is willing to eat whole pieces of meat, I'll feel better about not giving her kibble at night.

Thanks. I just finished it up tonight. I'm going to have to pick up more fabric to finish the second half of the cage when it arrives. Plus, I picked up a ton of fabric at 50% of the clearance price so I can make more sets. My husband thinks I'm nuts. Hehe.

Pita got a small whole wing cut into two pieces tonight. I had my husband cut gashes in the sides. She walked around the plate several times trying to figure out what to do with it. She then grabbed one piece and dragged it to her den. She worked on that for a few minutes, came back for the other and dragged it to the bottom next to her litter box. She didn't seem quite sure what to do with it so I broke it apart some more, fed her some small pieces by hand and place it back in her bowl. I think she's still trying to figure out what to do with it because she wanders off then comes back to it. I tried to take a few pictures but she kept getting distracted so I figured I'd let her be. I'm planning on leaving it in there overnight and see how much of it is left in the morning. First chicken wing

I'm browsing hare today and considering order some bone/organ in ground to try. I'm thinking my best bet is the 10lb variety pack. At 4-5oz meals twice a day, I think the pack should last me about 2-3 weeks. More if I add chicken/turkey wings/necks into the diet. What do you think?
Of course, this would only be for Pita, Sugar and Spice will have to wait a while for this.
