Muscle meat vs ground. Either is acceptable, just one is better than the other that's all. Now, whole muscle meat is better for them....better for the muscles in their jaws and neck, better for their teeth, it might even be better for their digestion but that one I have no proof of. Ground meats have a better chance of bacteria loading and of course offer little muscular growth and does nothing for their teeth. They offer the same natural diet benefits in regards to general health though. The ground is fantastic as a starter food or a soupy base. If your fuzz never gets beyond the ground stage and you opt to do that, there's nothing wrong with it but you will have to probably do some tooth cleaning. As far as using hearts, beef vs chicken vs turkey vs pork vs venison...use them interchangeably as you wish. Remember the more different types of proteins you use, the better your nutritional coverage. ciao

LOL "just one is better than the other that's all" for some reason i was thinking ground was good its much easier to buy the meat whole on the bone. i was looking at ground and all of them have "natural flavoring" added ive got nothing to do all day im okay with chopping ^_^ its very tedious meditative even... i shall be trying beef heart

That's one of the problems of buying preground meats. I've reached the point where when buying for the skin family that I buy from the local farmer's market so that I can get real unaltered meats. It's getting more and more difficult to buy ground meats without added flavours and worse sodium. I know it allows for a longer shelf life but I have to wonder about the damage it's doing to our bodies . ciao
