I want to make some bedding for the boys while I'm at my Mom's (and can use her sewing machine lol). The bedding I made before was no-sew so for the corners I just strung ribbons through the corners to tie them down. Velcro is not an option it will get eaten. Lol So my questions are - since I can't measure atm lol - what are The full level and shelf dimensions for the FN and does anyone have suggestions for how best to attach ties to the corners sewing?

Thanks! I remember seeing that a while ago - that is cool! Unfortunately my sewing skills are somewhat...well..... I am not so great. I figure I can manage a straight seam though, and the ferrets don't care what it looks like....right? Riiiight? Does anyone have a picture of the bottom of the old style FN shelves? The kind with the piece of plastic that slips under the little bars? I want to brainstorm ideas for shelf covers, but I would like to see the underside of the shelves (for knowing where I can tie things and such)...

I used ribbon for the corners bc u can tie cute little bows and its easy. I love making bedding, there are so many cute fabrics and I just put a layer of quilt batting in it.

I'll take a pic tomorrow sometime, and put it up for you. You're talking about the half platforms, right?

I recently made covers for the two floor pans and I am pretty happy with them. I basically made something like a fitted sheet. I kind of winged the cut out pan after making the bottom one. Here's how I did it:
I measured the bottom pan and added an inch (for two 1/2 inch seam allowances). I think the cut piece ended up being 37" by 25".
Then I cut four smaller rectangles. Two were 6" x 25" and two were 6" by 37". I sewed these to the corresponding dimensions of the main cut out.
Then, I folded up the side pieces a couple of inches to make a tube and sewed it nearly all the way around, leaving a small hole to string some elastic through. Once the elastic was done, I stitched it shut and voila! fitted sheet.
It solves the issue of having to use ties or clips. Super easy to change too. The top pan liner I did similarly but it is harder to explain. I am going to be changing the linens tomorrow on my FN and I'll try to get pics of my liners as I put them on and also once they are in place.

Man that sounds awesome! I'd love to see pictures. I probably won't do that this time around as my fabric is very limited but I want to make a few sets so when I get home that would be cool to do.
