Ok so there is this place I found in town that sells natural pet food and stuff. They do get some Stella and Chewey's (talk about expensive though!!!!) and whatnot but lately I have been buying their ground raw. This is the site for the product: www.columbiarivernaturalpetfoods.com/page2/page2.html
Koda seems to do a bit better on raw, but prefers chunks and bones. He needs the chewability. lol Anyhow, I am really excited because they have a good variety. Pretty much anything on the product list they can order. And that gives a wider variety of organ sources. It is just liver, so I hope I can still get them both eating pork kidney ok, but they have hearts for the taurine too! The issue is, when Koda gets only ground his teeth get yicky. I know it is bad for their teeth to eat too much ground. So my question is, with only teeth in mind, how often is it ok to feed ground in a week? Like 3 days a week ground and 4 days chunks/whole prey? I want them to have clean chompers! And the ground is an easy *knock on wood* way to get in a LOT of variety that was not available to them before.
Right now I have: duck, quail, pheasant, rabbit, lamb. Also whole chicken, lamb chunks.
They also had some pure green tripe when I went last night. I know that it is supposed to be really good, but also REALLY stinky! Would that be something good to feed? If so, how often would you recommend feeding it, how much, would it be good to feed for Koda's IBD...? I never thought I would be able to get it, but it is in such a nice little easy to cut slices off of package, and pretty inexpensive.
Also, with the meats I listed above: duck, quail, pheasant, rabbit, lamb. While I am gone I was going to feed different mixes of these ground meats, with pumpkin, and mice (+ another meat since they will only get one mouse each) on every 3rd day. I will put RR in their water, and maybe ask my roommate to add it in too while I am gone. I will tell her to mix fresh canned pumpkin in every day, and then in each I will already have added some flax. Should I include Reishii? Anything else? I gave them the Quail last night and they really liked it (after some convincing lol) I will give them a mix of all 5 meats tonight and make sure that they will eat the pheasant and duck since those are new foods. I want to feed the duck to maybe help them put on a little Fat. Koda anyways, he isn't "too" skinny, but he is too skinny for my likings. I think he might have lost more weight. He is eating again pretty eagerly when I feed chicken. Of course. So I just need to find other foods he will eat as eagerly. Should I perhaps make some of the meals, like every 4th day or something, soupies with heavy whipping cream? It would add some fat to their diet...
