I will have a kit here pretty soon, and I'm wandering how, and how hard it will be to switch him/her over to an all raw diet with occasional whole prey and commercial raw. I have a pretty good idea of what should be fed, just need to know the best way to do it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

By the time I got Yogi and Sian, I'd been feeding raw already, so I didn't even bother bringing home kibble. I just let them play and explore about 4 or so hours and then set down diced chicken breast. They ate it From there, it was just getting them used to the movements (how/when to turn their heads, etc), and getting their muscles built up for bone. I started with chunks and moved up to eating big pieces of boneless chicken breast, and then I introduced them to bone by giving them a wing tip. Yogi's first attempt was a bit traumatizing to watch, but he got the hang of it, and Sian was a tiny little bone devouring pro from the get go. Yogs was about 12 wks when I got him, and Sian was 6-7 wks (I kept her on boneless with a bit of olive oil and eggshell powder for longer because she had a prolapsed rectum from trying to eat kibble too young). Generally, kits are really, really easy to switch, and if you make sure to introduce him to variety early on, you shouldn't have an issue with anything. Just my thoughts and experiences, though!

Depending on the kit, just offering some small pieces of meat and making sure that the meat actually winds up in the kits mouth might be enough to get him started. My Napoleon, the only kit I've ever had was switched as he was leaving the store through the checkout. He just helped himself to the food bowl that was in his travelling cage. These little ones had come in fresh that day, they weren't even eating kibbles yet so they were hungry. He tucked into the ground raw rabbit that was in the cage and never looked back ciao

I started mine with raw the day they come through the door I just offered small bits of meat, and if they didn't want to taste it, just popped some in their mouths. Frequently with kits, that's all it takes

Thanks for the replies...How long do you usually wait before giving meat with bone in it?

You can try him right away with smaller bones like wing tips, or the middle bones of the chicken wing. That will help with any teething problems as well.

When i brought my kit home, i already had Jack at home eating raw. Jack was having a chicken wing for dinner and Brady helped himself. I was expecting some effort in switching him. but he did it on his own.

It makes me feel better that it sounds like it should be relatively easy (depending on the individual). Thanks everyone...Now I just gotta either find me a cage or make one haha.

You'll love it! I'm sure I will. It's in Atlanta now, so it should only be a couple days away. The other things I ordered are on the way to Clearwater now, so I'm getting a lil ancy lol.

I originally made my first cage and it was a great, but as my business grew they needed more space and I needed something easier to clean so about a month ago or so, I got my FN142 and I love it! It's so much easier to clean and the fuzz love it too! I'm glad I'm not the only weirdo that likes tracking their packages poor mailman when I know something comming I stalk him!
