I bought 3 mice 2 female and a male. They are currently in a 10 gallon aquarium. I chose that because it is just heavy enough my dd cannot move it. and plan to get a smaller one if possible for the male when i am ready to take him out. They are 2 months old. Is that old enough to breed yet? I am off to research on here for some answers to my questions

They probably will breed at that age but they might kill the babies, I normally wait until they are 3 months old. Mice are omnivores but heavy on grains, not so much meat and protein, I feed lab block but I have a lot more mice than you.

BRILLIANT! I will use my old 25 gallon aquarium to breed mice!! (I didn't want to buy a new cage so i've been putting it off..) Should I just use bird seed and some cooked meat and some fresh fruits and veggies for food? (or should I just buy food pellets..) Good luck on your breeding tank!

Growing up I always had pet mice and they often came pregnant from the store... so i think they breed very young. When the mother's were pregnant we fed them cat kibble (momma's need extra protein, especially when nursing). The rest of the time they ate fresh fruits and veggies, cheerios, seed mixes. And when the babies were very young, we would sprinkle dry oatmeal on them and they would gobble it up...

ok i traded the extra male for a female and bought a 3rd since they had rew (i love them on any animal) and i think at least one of the females is pregnant already!! and only half the size of the 2 month olds, I will get pics of them so you can see. The male is seperated from the females. I will wait another month or so before putting him back in with them. i will have to try some fruits and oatmeal. Would dry fruit work too.
