My parents didn't know what hit them when they got me They used to have one cat at a time and that was it. Thanks to me we have/had dogs, cats, reptiles, birds, rabbits, rats, mice (although the mice are just raised as feeders), horses, and of course ferrets. Only ones I had to get rid of were the snakes because they came from the yard anyway so it wasn't like we had to rehome them.

Must have been a bit of a shock for your parents going from one pet at a time to many lol. When my dad was with my mom they had a few cats. And since hes been with my step mom, we've had a total of one cat, and a few short lived pets. Until now haha.

Yeah it was definitely a bit of a lifestyle adjustment. My mom used to be terrified of dogs but my first dog was the sweetest Golden Retriever and he started us down the path. At least half of my pets I brought home without asking (including the newest ferret Tonks) and my parents just dealt with it. Spoiled rotten I know. I really can't imagine life without pets though. Never a dull moment, especially with ferrets!

Since my parents on my dads side are avid animal (all animal) haters, it's a little difficult convincing them to let me get a new pet. I'm surprised they let my little sister get a guinea pig since she wont care for, pick up, or do anything herself. And that means everything, not just with the guinea pig lol.

I keep reptiles. I currently own an iguana and a ball python, and hope to inherit a corn snake soon (and I helped Shane to get a corn snake lol) and eventually, when my roommate joins the guard (if she ever does at this rate lol) a Columbian boa. I have also owned leopard geckos, an African Fat Tailed gecko, crested geckos, a skink (I miss him )....and I think that is it... lol

I want a snake... but alas, my parents say NO Aw They are incredible pets! Especially if you get a mellower snake. MY ball python will just hang out on my shoulders while I clean or do whatever. And I actually have a "snake perch" in my bathroom that they all love. I got an extra shower curtain rod and stuck it up above the shower head so they are out of the spray, but still get the mist and humidity. I put them on it and they really enjoy it! I really recommend this reptile forum for anyone who has or is interested in reptiles or amphibians of any kind! www.herpcenter.com/The people aren't as friendly as around here - they are much more blunt. Not always the most tactful people. But they are all very knowledgeable and well meaning. Best herp care info source out there that I have come across yet!

Husband and I have a pastel ball python, an albino Nelson's milk snake, three Egyptian toads, seven leopard geckos, and a crested gecko. And three hermit crabs. And I have fiddler crabs at work.
Plus the dog and cats and ferrets and fish... sometimes I wonder about us.

I forgot about the toads. There are a couple Fire-bellied Toads and some big brown one. I don't know exactly because they aren't my responsibility. All I know is one of the Fire Bellys has to live in a separate enclosure because one of his legs got crushed so he's not as fast getting the crickets as the others. Oh and my Alligator Lizard. He was the best! My father caught him in the yard for me when I was in 4th grade and I named him King. Best reptile I've ever had. He lived until 11th grade but I was on a trip when he died and my father just chucked his body into the backyard. I guess that's where he came from but I was pretty upset. Man I really want another lizard now Edit: This isn't actually King but it looks just like him

I guess I'm not the only one who has had all sorts of pets lol. I remember I had a huge Amazon frog of some type that would always croak in the night and annoy any visitors lol.

Here's a link to my lizards. They're outdoor "pets". holisticferret.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=otherpet&action=display&thread=5869I grew up in Florida a LONG time ago. Spent my childhood catching all kinds of reptiles and amphibians...I really love them all. I'm really thrilled to have Lots of different kinds of lizards in Utah. They're so cool. I still catch them, but I've never been able to catch one of these collared lizards - man can they JUMP. The back legs are long and strong!!! -jennifer

I am jealous of warmer climates that have lizards like Wisconsin has squirrels... we only have four lizard species native to the state and they're not that widely distributed, so I've never even encountered a wild one. Snakes and amphibians are easier to come by, so now it's my husband telling me No, leave that outside instead of my mom
