I just bought Wysong Archetypal-1 and have been mixing it in with my babies kibble for 3 days now I have not tried hydrating it yet. I have been taking baby steps I also have Duck 14 oz. in a Can I have not tried yet has anyone use this product if yes any pro's or con's I should know about? I have been want to switch their diet for awhile but I'm afraid I'll do something wrong - my big boy coil is going in for surgery to remove a blockage in his bladder and they want to remove most of a adrenal tumor on the right side so I'm not sure if I should wait on the diet thing till he has recovered any opinions and help is welcomed ;D

Wysong's Archetypal 1 is a really good freeze dried food. Not sure about the duck, haven't ever seen it. As for waiting, when is his surgery scheduled for? Switching can take quite a while in some cases. If it's soon, I'd say wait til after. You can make him some soup and get him eating that before hand. That way, if he doesn't feel much like eating after the surgery, you'll have something easy for him.

also, you can increase the amount of the archetypal I in with the kibble. This will provide more nutrition prior to the surgery without the stress of switching. As SherryLynne mentioned, a lot of ferret like soup. when they don't feel well . Soups can be made with the wysongs and soaked kibble. meat baby food (such as gerbers second stage turkey or chicken are also commonly used in soups. A little ferretone also helps ferrets learn to eat soup. The canned duck will also be a good soup ingredient.
You can try the soup as a treat to help build strength befor e the surgery. Once your ferret has recovered from surgery, you may want to begin the switch to raw. witching can be stressful for both ferret and their owners. It takes a lot of patience!
