I introduced thaw mice today. It went extremely well. My question is there is headless halfed mice left over. How long can they be left out?

Yay!!!! I would say about 12 hours (if they last that long ) Once they get used to eating the mice they shouldnt leave any behind. My guys dont like the tails or the intestine, so they will leave those, but if they get hungry enough they will eat those too. Did you get pics? ? (Of them eating lol, not pics of just dead, headless halfed mice lol!

Congrats Meli!
Depending on the temperature of your house, you can easily leave them until the next day. If you don't offer the ferrets anything else to eat, chances are the remaining halves of the mice will be gone by the morning!
My ferrets all seem to start at the heads too! Guess mouse brains are a delicacy! Way to go!
Cheers, Kim

Congrats, Meli, that's awesome! I always left them in there until they were gone. Unless it didn't get touched at all. Then after about a day I'd throw it out back (I assume the dogs ate it, but who knows). Whole prey tends to last longer. I'd say 24 hours from when you put it in there, and don't give them another until it's gone. They're young, they'll eat it. Of course this was written several days ago, so you should tell us, how'd it go?

Congratulations My guys always carry this eating of the mousy thing by degree. The choice parts (the heads) are always eaten and fought over first. Then Lady B eats the tails, I'm not sure what the fascination is for her about the tail, dental floss. Then, they skin the poor sods....they eat them from the inside out. The skin is the last piece to go, it may actually be played with for several hours, depending on how hungry the business is. I don't worry about how long they keep them around. If I come across the remains and they don't look like they're being played or chewed recently (at least in the last few hours) then I throw them out. ciao

My guys usually get large rats...mice are appetizers That's why there's sometimes leftovers. You're right as far as mouses are concerned, there's never anything left. They cause the most bickering amoung the business as there's never enough in their opinion ciao
