Wow, this makes me feel better when Paulie chooses to skip a meal. Because of his tummy issues I always get neurotic when he eats half of his food, skips a meal, or skips a day. Nice to know that sometimes, maybe he really is just not hungry since being fed raw. And sometimes, he begs for 3 meals in a day (porker). Shame he wasn't able to attend the Buckeye Bash in 2009 when I went. He was sick. I will also try not to feel as bad when Paulie discovers a specially preserved "jerky" that he wants to eat (or chew on). I didn't know about the scavenging (so dog-like!). Of course, considering hoarding habits ... shouldn't we all know better.

"He spoke about natural fed ferrets not requiring food in front of them at all times. He asked me how many times a day I feed and my reply was generally twice a day about 12 hours apart, but sometimes once a day and sometimes none. I try to mimic how a true predatory carnivore would eat. Bob said that's exactly what he does!" I am so glad to read this! I've been told a thousand times that ferrets need food twice a day, and I feel so bad when i'm in a rush in the morning and forget to feed him in the am. I feed my dog like described above, and it's nice to see that some other people feed like that too! Also, this post is really fun and interesting! Thanks for sharing, i'm glad you had such a great time. I'm the same way. There are just some mornings where I'm running so late that I don't have time to take a bag out and let it thaw and feed them. So those days, they get one slightly bigger meal at night. Wow, I'm *not* the only one. \o/ ;D I always felt so guilty on those days .... I really do try for twice a day, but sometimes I just can't get that morning meal in (poor planning, I know).

I am the same way with feeding, on Fri and Sat I have to be a work at 6:45AM and I have a hard time with that. They sure do seem like little piggies though!! Clovis eats 3x/day!
